I just read somewhere that city distance from the capital is rounded down if it is not a full number, eg City A is 5 tiles from Capital, and City B is 5.5. Rounding down means that both are considered to be distance 5 from the Capital.
Can anyone confirm this?
My wife also finds it bizarre that I spend so much time on game-related stuff. If I can't be playing the game cos she's on the computer then I'm reading strategy articles (downloaded and printed out at work ;D ).
The other day when I was playing she got really frustrated and said (and I...
Are you sure it stops at size 4 and not 6?
A city that is not on a river or does not have an aqueduct can not grow past 6 no matter how much food it has.
"so a fair match would be maybe GWB vs the AI"
Ha ha, yes, but only on a 486 with 15MB RAM and unpatched version of the game.
Even then, to even it up you might have to turn off the fan and take out the heat sink. But after that - hoo boy, it's all on!
Don't feed the troll.
Oh, and my...
I often see people looking down their noses at others who play using exploits, and rightly so. An exploit exists because the computer HAS to use hard-and-fast rules (at least until they invent real AI) and so the human, being able to "think outside the square" always has an advantage (except for...
SVAN:
"After changing artillery option to "Lethal bombardment" (which seems logical) and "Lethal seq bombardment"
Where do you do that? Is it a PTW thing or can vanilla do that too?
Krayzeenbk:
"I believe you also get veteran artillery if you have a barracks "
Can anyone confirm...
I agree with Minstrel - to make the best advantage out of the GL you need to use it as an opportunity to earn cash.
On the other hand, researching a different tech (like Printing Press) which the AI's do not prioritise on, is an excellent way to stunt the AI's research (by making them pay...
I need some advise on whether or not I should break a deal here.
The date is just before 1800AD, I am China. In the Ancient Age I broke a deal and my rep has not been too good, but I've played honorably since then and my rep, while still negative, is not TOO bad.
Near the middle of the 3rd...
Agreed. Raizing the cities was a bit cheeky.
What goes around comes around tho' - one of the raized city sites turned out to be Iron Works-possible! If I'd kept that city it would have been, at worst, rank 2 (I literally moved it 1 tile to get it to rank 1) and with 100% production increase...
I'm not sure I agree. I think it is just taking advantage of the rules.
If I were to use the exploit Qitai suggested (suggested as in defined, not as in advocated), whereby I move my original Palace to the other side of the world so ALL my cities around my FP (inner ring or not) become rank...
One thing I have recently learned, and used in my current game to tremendous advantage, is the effect of distance from FP/Palace on corruption.
Try to get the ring of cities round your FP to be closer to the FP that the primary ring around the capital. If CityA is 4 tile from FP and CityB is...
Doh! I had researched Atomic T for 1 turn when I decided to do a pre-build of ToE. I thought I'd get 2 techs which did NOT include my current research target, so I changed it to something cheap. dumbass.
"Typically, most people set the research to Atomic Theory at 0 research rate, take that...
