Give the AI free bomb shelters?

IIRC, in previous games using nukes would give a pretty harsh penalty to your score at the end of the game as a deterrent for just blanketly bombing everyone. Can anyone confirm this? There also used to be global warming when you used them, but I don't know if global warming is an effect in...

    Any interest in posted playthroughs?

Is there any interest in starting up a series of posted playthroughs a-la this, I used to see them all over the place in cIV, but for some reason have seen a lack of them in CiV, possibly due to the frustration people felt in vanilla. Now that G&K is out and the sentiment has changed would this...

Machine guns to mech infantry seriouly?!

I think with Bombers, Fighters, Artillery, and Mobile Artillery (can't remember the name perfectly) that the era has plenty of ranged combat possibilities.

    Automating Workers

LOL. Happened to me when I built a city on an island, I manually used the worker to build what tile improvements were important, then got busy with a war and hit automate. I looked two turns later and see the worker going back across the ocean to my mainland.

    Weak UAs

This. The movement bonus is so good for that era it's unbelievable. My last game was America and I needed to take out Germany who expanded like mad and had some beastly natural terrain giving them great defensive spots. Being able to get my minutemen across those hills was clutch

    Automating Workers

Agree with this wholeheartedly. Trading Posts in jungle are great once universities come out and I never get rid of jungle around my cities anymore (hard to get used to since in previous Civ's jungle=bad)

    Automating Workers

I really liked the 'build trade network' where it would only build up roads back in cIV. Now, in CiV that wouldn't necessarily be something you want your workers doing because roads/rails cost so damned much. I would love a 'improve nearest city' for late game. Didn't know that the worker...

    Battleships come too late?

Great War Infantry are unlocked by Replaceable Parts, which is only 1 column before Destroyers and Battelships. In fact Replaceable Parts is a prereq for Electronics, which unlocks Battleships. Battleships are one step away from Great War Infatry. Despite what you say, you are looking for...

    Battleships come too late?

This is a game that is supposed to be about playing out how you would run a civilization from rocks to rockets. It's about making your own civilization, not about perfectly recreating the ones on earth. You want to ignore the water and not have any seagoing vessels until 0 AD? Great. Want to...

Do you deviate from tech advise often?

Gah... Calm down man. I know they are set to GOLD... When you a city is set to gold it prioritizes trading posts, it does not use them exclusively and then execute any additional population. Whatever population won't fit into the trading posts will go into specialist slots, and then after...

Do you deviate from tech advise often?

Yeah, I got lazy with workers and put them on auto-improve last game (king)... All of my puppets only got trading posts and nothing else, so they had no production at all with which to build up the city or food to grow. Ridiculous. I still won, but could've done so much quicker.

    Weak UAs

Peacemongerer-ererer... I have played several games of G&K now (three Prince and one King) and I only had one instance of AI's going crazy with spies. I guess it depends on which leaders are getting randomly pulled and the leaders #'s for espionage usage. I could look at that handy chart that...

    Battleships come too late?

Battleships come with Eletronics and Destoyers come with Combustion and both techs occupy the same column on the Tech Tree (2nd column of Modern Era)... So from a balance perspective they are both available to be researched at the same time. How an individual goes about their research will...

Do you deviate from tech advise often?

I do deviate from it, but I'd be hard pressed to give a percentage of how often it happens. City placement suggestion seems to be heavily influenced by resources, which as a general rule isn't a bad thing, but there are forced that the AI can't figure in. For example, wanting to box out a...

How Has the New Tech Tree Changed Your Warfare?

Loving the Gatling Gun, very nice little unit to spice things up. Also, since units last longer, enjoying upgrading my units. I didn't play much Vanilla CiV before I gave up on it (couldn't take the diplomacy), but from what I remember units didn't last too long unless you really tried. In...
