    Nato vs Russia Mod

And here I thought "Risk Legacy" started the "permanently modify your board game" trend :)

April Challenge Discossion Thread - Three Stars Each

I hope not as well, though I'm a little nervous about what 2K expects. My general thoughts: Almost no one plays scenarios. Multiplayer has had limited long-term engagement despite multiple attempts at shorter variants (or even completely different variants like pirates/red death. There's a lot...

April Challenge Discossion Thread - Three Stars Each

I get that, but it personally doesn't give me a lot of optimism for the implementation of this feature in Civ 7. I was hoping it to be a combination of a Firaxis sponsored GOTM meets scenarios, but if ti's essentially just "play this Civ this month" then meh. Like have one of your resources...

What if there were more Tech/Civic quotes?

Yeah, I was gonna say, I feel like the quotes were one of the most universally criticized things in 6. I think someone searched and they were basically the first result that came up when googling, like someone realized Sean Bean was booked for the next day and gave the assignment to an intern to...

    Millenia vs. Civ VI

Old World also has UNDO :P I was talking about Steam Reviews, ie Old World is currently "Very Positive" vs Humankind's "Mixed". Humankind definitely has far bigger user base. But in general, it's nice to see this much variety in the 4x space. Within the space of a couple years, we'll have had...

    Millenia vs. Civ VI

I'm not sure about your Old World/Humankind ranking there - I personally prefer Old World to Humankind. As do the Steam reviews. And metacritic reviews. My thoughts are: as a someone who primarily plays on a Mac, it's a poorer version of both Old World and Humankind :P It doesn't look unique...

Next Civilization game and it's competition

To me the 'charisma' that Civ has is not just presentation. It's the uniqueness and variety on the mechanics: ie the UAs/LUAs, the city states, great works. A lot of competitors tend to be a lot more generic plus/minus modifiers (this civ gets +1 from rivers, and this civ +1 from deserts, and...

IGN: 2K Reveals Civilization Mobile Game, Moves to Calm Concern It May Impact Civilization 7

Iirc Firaxis sold the rights to civ mobile game ages ago, so not a surprise. I'm surprised it's even coming from with in 2K. With GTA 6 making 2k all the money for 2025, I'd still lean towards Civ 7 for 2024. TBD tho.

Why does AI only build high?

While accurate, those increased unit and yield bonuses definitely lead to more AI cities, at least on Immortal and Deity, in my experience.

CIV VI MONTHLY CHALLENGES NOW ON STEAM

Yeah, I think something like this built into Civ 7 would be interesting if they managed to have a way of doing cheat-free leaderboards (highest score, fastest completion time, for example). Add some 'multiplayer' competitiveness in a different.

Is CIV really just an upgraded game of MULE? Irrata World Map

I mean if we're playing reduce-the-game-to-it's-earliest-genre-appearance I'd say MULE and Civ are all just upgraded versions of the text game Hammurabi. http://hammurabigame.com/hammurabi-game.php

R&F a failing version more than great variation

Calling Civ woke is pretty amusing to me, as having had some extremely 'woke' friends in my life, I think they'd consider it Cultural Appropriation: The Video Game.

Official announcement: Hot off the presses. Next Civ game in development!!!!!!!

They have a decent amount of ways to adjust the AI to make it less aggressive. They also have a 'make your goals' victory (essentially imagine a series of more-elaborate CS quests to complete) that can be non-militaristic. I'd roughly say, if you want a competitive experience/challenging AI...

How much do you care about scenarios?

They definitely don't seem to be that popular based on achievements: https://steamcommunity.com/stats/289070/achievements Red Death and Pirates! were definitely pretty unique, but seemed primarily aimed towards giving more multiplayer action for Civ, and I dunno how well that held when most...

Official announcement: Hot off the presses. Next Civ game in development!!!!!!!

Depends on how long the wait is. I work in outdoor rec all summer and won't be near a computer, so it comes out in say Oct 2023, it'll likely be all non-gaming plans for me. If it's Feb 2024, definitely some gaming happening.
