Unit Maker of the Month, December 2008 jury thread

This is an uncommonly well matched contest. The quality from top to bottom is really too close to call, all are deserving of accolades. I have to give an extra nod to Wyrmshadow because of the extra pain he goes through to animate humans in Bryce. :hatsoff: Very impressive work from any...

    Poser 6 For Only $30!!

Actually Poser 6 works fine in Vista, it even works on Vista 64bit. Naturally it is always best to have the latest greatest version. Poser Pro has some 64bit support for those lucky enough to have a 64bit PC... it is basically just a slightly faster and perhaps more stable version of Poser 7...

    themanuneed's WIP

The smoke is expelled from the barrel heading towards the enemy, but dispurses and goes in all directions. That would be too hard to get done with the palette limitations. So I would suggest it come out head forward (the direction of the barrel) expanding as it goes. The secondary smoke...

    themanuneed's WIP

I would suggest some actual flame coming out the barrel as it fires. Also, the smoke would be better if it came further forward. The unit being illuminated is, as noted by the others, a great looking touch. Makes the palette work later a bit more of chore, but I think it is worth it. A...

    Whatever happened to NavyDawg?

I am not MIA. Silent is not absent. I have had some minor health issues, and just not taken the time to do any 3d stuff, so nothing new to share. And, I never did find all my Civ3 disks, and so have not been able to play that either. Been playing Civ4, cus it is the only Civ where I...

    Imperial Japanese Unit Pack (WW2)

Well, the model linked to is not exact. See this actual photo of the plane in question So it seems the actual tail was splits the difference between the model and the me262. I think at game scale, it is probably close enough.

    The Drunk 8-2-2008

Bit late on the post here, but I really like how this turned out. The vommit is just so gross and cool. The over all texturing & animation is really top shelf stuff. The attention to details... he drunken walk, the way the bottle rolls off after he tosses down some liquid courage, etc...

Truespace 7.6 (nice modeler) now free!

Version 3.2 was free before. It is now around 10yrs old. Version 7.6 is only a couple of days old. It is not the a stripped down version. It is their top of the line tool which until 1-2 days ago sold for 600-900 depending (my upgrade price, which thankfully I did not use, was 600). Plus...

Truespace 7.6 (nice modeler) now free!

http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=893&page=5 leads to: http://cart1.caligari.com/web/Truespacemainreg.aspx If you read the last post, you will see that the program and tutorials are all free. I guess Microsoft buying them lets them do things a bit differently?

    Lost Units

It seems Dustin's site is still there to me.... I just typed civ3files.com and it worked. I went to this page: http://civ3files.com/cgi-bin/Civ3Files.cgi and I downloaded two of my OLD things there. Although he did post this: So, if eventually he does get tired of the site (and I...
