    Fractured Religious Landscape

Another disadvantage is that if a city does NOT have your state religeon then they will not recieve the state religeon benefits.

What's the use of a machine gun?

Because "Siege" is a term used for keeping an enemy encampment of some kind encircled so they couldn't break out. That fits the machine gunner as his job is to sit and make sure that no other unit gets past. Think WWI.

    Getting Started...

It just feels tedious. I think it could be something to do with having to research the techs that corospond with the bonuses I have lying around. With Civ III I could start iragating my flood plains or mining my cows straight away. But with this it is a bit more convuluted...

    Getting Started...

Meh. After a little break I am finding it hard to get started on a new game. Usually once I start a game and get past the first era I find I can get quite intrested... But creating the first city can be quite a bore. I dislike how every opening is pretty much the same. Worker, settler...

    Game balance

What gamespeed do you play on? I find that the "Standard" gamespeed is far too quick. The eras just fly by. However, the modern age can be very quick even on Epic gamespeed... I do get what you mean by this as it seems you only just get one tech and you can't savour it before a new one comes...

What happens to super-specialists when you lose a city?

He said Super Specialists. Not Great People. Do the Super Specialists keep producing the bonuses for the enemy city when taken over?

    More cities = better?

It is hard to explain the game mechanics of city building in Civ IV. Every city you build will start off by losing money. The further away from your capital you build it the more money it will cost you. Of course, as your city developes and produces more commerce the city starts to pay for...

v1.61 and the power of gold

I feel it was the intention to curb the rush buying of units and wonders. It felt far too easy just to rush build everything you needed late game. Now we will have to work for the wonders.

    Windmills or mines?

I tend only to build them in cities that would otherwise not be able to grow without them. The commerce bonus is not really that good compared to cottages for watermills. However, one very nice combination is watermill and plains/Tundra. Especially with the State Property civic.

    Can't fire nukes there?

Or a neutral civs land. If the blast radius includes a Civ you are not at war withs borders, then you can not launch the nuke.

Expert opinion: Farms and Specialised City

As far as food goes. Sometimes it can be best to leave some tiles producing 0 food if you are looking for decent production. For example, a coastal city has 3 resources around its borders. Let us say one wheat and two fish. That would be a bonus 15 food from 3 tiles. You need two food to...

In the name of peace, love, and ... Socialism!?!?!?

Bloody hell. I just had a game today. I had a whole continent to myself. Under Free Market I was making 150GPT with fully developed cities. I switch to Free Market and it jumps up to 400gpt without a knock on science...

    First Domination: Advice Needed

Yes. I think that purely military is the way to go. The reason I had switched civics was because after my war on the continent I had slipped somewhat in research due to the expense of holding the Arabian and Egyptian cities and I had wanted to get some improvments down. Anyway, I think I will...

    First Domination: Advice Needed

Well in my latest game I decided to go against all that I have ever been in Civ games. Usually I am a passive sort of fellow with a fairly large standing army that can punnish any nasty AI that declares war on me. However, this game (Prince, high sealevel, large map, epic game, France...

In the name of peace, love, and ... Socialism!?!?!?

Actually Free Market is what made the rioters. Nothing like being told you can be fired at will and all your rights to be taken away to make you angry. Back to the topic at hand. Maybe one added drawback if you think you need one could be one less trade route? Maybe something to simulate...
