    Addicted to Settler Factories

I seem to rarely get land that wields good settler factories. Usually I end up with at most +3 surplus food (+4 on occaison, but never the coveted +5). However, I think that two or three of those, pumping out military in between settlers, gives good expansion speed (at least up to emperor)...

    Conquests: Sengoku strategy/tip thread

Use your daimyo early in the game. Its an advantage over the AI, since they never move theirs. I try to avoid simply heading for the AI's capitals with ninja since I think its too easy. I like domination better, especially since the units are all so cool looking.

    More AI Civs = Harder?

Easier as long as you can manage to keep up in tech through research (low levels), or trades (high levels). Its easier to fall behind, i find, since the AI will trade that much more amongst themselves.

Problem: fighters not intercepting from carrier

Im sure that fighters on Carriers do intercept. In one of my recent games i had a large amount of carriers parked off the enemy coast. When war came and they tried to bombard some of my ships, the fighter would intercept (and yes, it was the fighter and not the AA defense of the ship). Maybe...

Why do people think the Agricultural trait is overpowered?

Well, becasue food is the most powerful resource in the beginning of the game. There is almost always a river near to the start (not necessarily by the capital), and that makes settler factories far easier, and just speeds up the growth of a few of your key cities. Even later, when you are out...

    Decisions on city placement

OCP is fun to have at the end of the game, and you end up with these metropolitan centres with extreme amounts of production and commerce. However, between ancient age to mid-industrial, a strategic set up is much much better, and even after that OCP isnt that great. Especially if you are on a...

    The Japanese

I think that you might have forgot that the Samurai is perhaps the coolest looking unit in the game :D

    cultural victory?

Note: the amount needed for civ-wide victory varies depending on map size, 100 000 on standard, more if the map bigger, less if it is smaller.

Conquests: Age of Discovery strategy/tip thread

If you play as England, I find piracy to be the answer. Research as fast as you can to the piracy tech, and then simply build tons of Sea Dogs. You can do this as any European power, but England is better, naturally. Just attack all shipping coming back from the New World, intercepting all of...

The AI are Cheats and Liars

One of my problems with the AI is that I suspect that reputation doesn't apply to them. That is, if they break a deal, will all the other AI's refuse to deal with them afterward like they do when you break a deal? Now, ive never tested this, but Im pretty sure they don't, considering the...

Harbor at a lake (actually it IS a lake)

Inland lakes are fun! In my last game as the Americans, I had a nice sized inland lake, with a city on a landbridge to allow ships to pass to the real ocean. It was a natural Pearl Habour (of sorts), and allowed me to have 5-6 more 'coastal' cities than otherwise.

    Craters

I think that while 'craters' are realistic to include, they should be harder to create. I think that after the tile improvements are gone, then further bombardment would have a chance of damaging the tile. The chances should be a lot lower, however, since (in reality) it would require vast...

    Pollution

Plant forest wherever possible. Global warming will first turn every forest/jungle in the world to either plains or grassland. Only once those are gone will it begin to make deserts and plains out of more useful tiles. I too am unaware of what formula is used for global warming, although I...

    good luck with RNG

Yeah, in my last huge map, I had about 14 armies at the end, all from MGLs. My first one was from a random phony war against the Spanish, half the world away. The one unit that gets to my territory, and ta-da, I now have an army. My various keshik (Mongols) and cavalry armies rampaged around...

Have You Ever Played a World War This Chaotic?

Its cause the AI loves to sign MPPs without thought of the consequences. This makes it very easy for them to be dragged into world wars. Be wary of signing MPP's, cause you never know... If you do sign one or more, I almost guarantee that your reputation will be gone as soon as the wars begin.
