Ok scratch all that I just posted above. I have finally sat down and read various civ strategies (any GGrayson one and that fire-guy that put the Spanish island one up are my fav ones so far). And they have made me 1000x better in SP. Haven't tried MP yet.
I generally go Domination until I beat down the AI guys to one capital then choose which victory I want.
I found a good article on here and pretty much follow the same recipe in my games:
1) Switch initial city to 2 Production to get first warrior out at 3 turns.
2) After warrior out switch it...
I didn't read the entire thread but if you have a unit stacked with a settler, you can establish a new city even tho it has used it's movement points for the turn.
When you have a settler unstacked (tsk! tsk!) it won't let you get to his options after his move points are gone.
EDIT: Ah poop...
Believe it or not I had never thought of using great builders to do wonders.
I got a great leader yesterday playing as monty. that was pretty fun actually.
Thanks folks. I started with Cleo and got Colossus and eventually an economic victory. They put me on a fairly large island so I settled it, focusing on desert tiles, then planted a little city on the main continent close to England but not so close i couldn't build it up a bit. Had a huge tech...
I finished the Greek game,... ran into Indians and English at the end of my continent, pumped my culture up huge and took a couple of cities then got a culture GP and took another one from India. Took last two India cities with artillery while building United Nations.
Culture win. Yay.
I...
Got it again last night on Emperor. I really think it is because I am pretty slow compared to some of the folks and my games end around 1950AD or so usually. Plus I max out my economy and buy every thing I can, once things are under control.
I tried the Greeks last night. Just turtled up and locked down a few bottlenecks, and grinded to tanks, then smacked the French, and the Russians first. The Russians were actually pretty tough with the Loyalty bonus. I am a bit nervous about the Indians though they were right behind me on tech...
I am 3-0 on Emperor right now, not quite ready to try Diety. I have won with the Romans (pretty easy), Japan (still pretty easy), and India (i got a lot of breaks).
Who should i try next? I was thinking Cleo cuz I never really use her.
And I don't ever, ever ever ever ever ever...
I like Kadazzle's post. As far as city specialization what I do is roughly follow one of the guides I saw on here:
1. First two cities = science + libraries (buy them with cash from roaming warriors taking goody huts... or sell Alphabet to rival civs... also make sure you hit that 100 mark for...
I just finished a game on Emperor with Ghandi. Won Space Race but took every other city but Washington. I finished above Winston, but am not sure what exactly I did to do that. I did finish late (2004) because I was screwing around a little bit instead of switching everything to tech when I had...
