    [GS] Sneak Peak 29-01

The background seems to depict a crude looking map of the Mediterranean (sky as land and cloud as sea). You can see Italy and Sicily, North African Coast. The cliffs have a channel between them, possibly Gibraltar, with an ancient boat passing through. I think Phoenicians.

China to receive a Hakkapeliitta from military CS

In my current game playing as China I befriended a military CS and found out it is going to give me the Swedish UU Hakkapeliitta every so often once I have researched Metallurgy (still a fair way off that yet). So I'm just curious if anyone has had experience of this and whether the combination...

Since G&K, AI army ''dance'' in front of my cities

I noticed this behaviour in my current game and found a peaceful solution due to the fact that this army had come a long way and there were two other civilizations I wanted to conquer first before aiming at them and getting a premature diplo hit. They hadn't declared war as they eventually saw I...

Immortal - is it worth it?

When I made the step up from King to Emperor playing vanilla, I was expecting a much more intense game but found I was still constantly winning domination well before the discovery of oil and never experiencing the modern era, but as i'm in my first game of G&K (always play huge marathon games...

    Do you miss Wonder Cinematics?

I miss the wonder movies and especially the victory cinematics which were both a nice touch in civ IV - I'm hoping they bring them back in the new expansion.

Ask Dennis Shirk about Civ V: Gods & Kings (submissions closed!)

I asked if they had brought back the World Wonder and Victory movies that were brilliantly displayed in Civ IV.

"The Bad Sequel": Sullla's Analysis of Civ5

I haven't had the time to play much Civ V yet in fact I haven't even completed a game for much the same reasons as Sulla. I concluded from my first 2 games where i only reached the Renaissance era that the game seemed to lack the same depth and fun as Civ IV did but thought I needed more games...

ALC Game #26: Willem van Oranje/Dutch

True, but you'll get that anyway, what you wont get is the free GM from Economics if someone else beats you to it. The AI are usually fairly quick to get Economics post Banking on Immortal. Having a GM sit idly for a few hundred years before Sushi is available is such a waste if you have a...

ALC Game #26: Willem van Oranje/Dutch

Had London built the Hindu shrine, settling the GM there aiding a future Wall Street would have been the strongest move. As it is I would send him off to the Artemis Temple city in India if you feel confident about getting Lib first, then use Economics as the free tech, keeping that free GM for...

    Tip: Suicide barrage cannons.

I usually have Barrage II promoted seige with as many added CR promotions as I can get during the melee era (Barrage II gives +30% col. damage, +10% vs melee), and once gunpowder units arrive, strive to have Barrage III with added CR promotions (Barrage III gives +50% col. damage, +10% vs...

ALC Game #26: Willem van Oranje/Dutch

''What to research next'' and the ''general strategy to adopt'' questions go hand in hand looking at the map. As been noted, blocking Liz from further expanding eastward by way of settling near the horses while grabbing the gems is a good strategy. You will need to research Ironworking if you...

Transferring game saves and Hall Of Fame to new computer

I've just bought a new computer, and am succesfully playing BTS better and faster than ever before. My old computer is being salvaged for parts/disposed of by the guy who built it for me some years ago. My question is, I have asked for my some files to be emailed to me so I can continue a game...

    Axmen inacuracy

Interesting reading that source link. From my new Ancient Civilizations book series I'm collecting it reads: "Although fragments of a Mespotamian smelted iron dagger blade from the 28th Century BC have been found, there is no evidence of extensive use of iron in Mesopotamia or Egypt before the...
