    Korea if playing tall. The early tech boost from making science buildings in the capital combined with the late game boost for +2 science on every specialist and tile improvement. You can easily rush certain wonders with ease due to the instant science boost building a library in the capital...

    Very simple. After your first city or two stop building settlers at your capital and instead use a city you want to prevent from growing to produce the settlers.

    Pretty sure you need to have influence within 9 tiles of the place you want to drop, you can't drop anywhere.

    Tourism comes too late to matter much...

    Personally, Tourism should improve the gold you get from trade routes to city states/other civs. Makes sense, popular tourist spots are more profitable than ones that are not. Would give a reason to invest in early tourism.

    On large maps it is rather tedious because of how strong cities are. What I tend to to do is rush for Xcom soldiers, use a bunch of Sea trade routes to up the hammers on cities to produce them in 1-2 turns and just spam them at every city until everything is captured.
