Do you think you understand corruption (pre-C3C)?

Alexman, if Republic and Monarchy have the same corruption why is one labelled "problematic" and the other "nuisance"?

    A Persian Tale!!!

Hello. Since this thread seems to be flooded with SGs compared to Apolyton, I thought a story here might look nice :-) PARAMETERS: This game will be played as Persians on a normal world (Standard size, standard climate, barbarians restless, random opponents, Regent level). I am playing with...

    Optimum City Placement

What pattern do you use for placing cities. Has anyone come up with a better plan than placing cities North, East, South, and West four squares away, and NE, SE, SW, NW five squares away. This gives your capital all 20 squares, and each suburb has 18 squares to work with. Or do you have a...

    Sun Tzu - Useless?

Has anyone built Sun Tzu's AOW? Without Barracks already in your cities, you'll be churning out only Regular units, which will be useless later. Am I missing something about this wonder? Does it make Barracks already built maintanence-free? When you upgrade a Reg, it stays Reg, correct?

How many workers do you use?

In my last game as Egypt, I switched all production in 200 AD to Workers. Soon I had a horde of 32 (for my fifteen cities) and I completely developed all my land. Meanwhile my cities were catching up fast pop-wise, so by 500 AD not only was I ready for rails when they came, but all my cities...

How do I destroy my own cities?

Suppose I don't like a city and want to move it somewhere else. How do I turn it back into a Settler, or can't I?

    Controlling foreign wars

The only point in asking for an MPP is if you are about to declare war and you want an ally. The only reason to accept an MPP is if you're afraid they'll offer it to someone else and they'll both declare on you. So yes, MPPs almost always result in a war.

What Civilization do you use the most

Egypt is the perfect blend of attributes. First, there is Industrious. I usually am one road ahead of my settlers with workers this fast! (ie, I always have a road to an empty spot). In the early game an extra shield or two can win a wonder race. Workers definitely come in handy early. Plus, all...

How to win. A short guide.

If you asked for a random civ, with a random terrain type, size, etc, how often do you think this strategy could win? It certainly would not work very well on anything but Pangea, because you would need (hopefully) Map Making or (more likely) Navigation. On maps Standard or Larger, it takes too...

MPP not an Option??? Help! Please!

Press [Control]-[E] and a list of countries to establish embassies with will pop up. However, it may not work prepatch. Don't know.

The Art of Terrain: A Manual and Dictionary of Complexes

Hello, all. Well, if there's one thing the AI CAN'T do in Civ3 (besides conduct a good war) it's improve terrain. Face it: the AI model for worker actions is a bit too "socialistic"; it will send all your workers off by galley to the farthest island in your realm to irrigate a "vital" Plain...

How to win. A short guide.

I'm not against conquering wonders. Often when I don't get a critical (or even good) wonder I'll mark down its city, and if I ever go to war with that civ, then I know where the wonder is if it's feasible to conquer it. I'm just against stuff like: "And the point here was to WIN, not to...

How to win. A short guide.

Agreed. You're taking advantage of the fact that there is only 3 enemies and at most 5 cities to beat, giving you a window of only up to 1000 BC. If your enemy's techs ever got as far as Pikemen, or maybe even Swordsmen/Horsemen, you could never win this way. Also, how do you win against the...

    Short Tip about Food Overproduction

It depends. If the extra gold/shields from a WLT D outweighs the gold from taxmen or the research from scientists, then obviously entertainers are the way to go. Otherwise taxmen are usually better than scis.

    Size DOES matter!

How can you include the Dutch? I'm part Dutch meself, but you should replace them with a REAL civ. Incas would be good. Or perhaps Japan. Or even...
