I found a workaround. It is indeed because of a bugged ancient site. Well i had new random seed on and had to keep reloading and playing until the ancient site no longer bugged out. So always play with new random seed I guess

I'm getting this too. How did you fix it? I got through 2 whole games before this started happening now I can't complete any game. Any help would be appreciated.

I've completed around a thousand turns and two complete games and at no point did I feel the early game was tedious. I favor the builder style gameplay as well. The early game is all about getting trade going, managing barbarians, and jockeying for position. Nothing tedious about it.

While I'm not a big fan of him dumping the blame on 2k for the lack of quality in his commentary, at least he took the time to do a rough, candid video of the first couple turns as venice. I don't think he meant for it to be a polished let's play, just a quick, hey I got the game early here's...

The standard "always war" in all human games may need to change then =) I know I'd alter my approach given this. Find trade partners etc. Of course in a 1v1 all you'll have is city states so unit management will be critical. Spamming comp bows probably won't work anymore.

I don't think blaming the Mods solves anything. Everybody hates "mods" for varius reasons, but at least these ones here go out of their way to explain what's going on. For that they deserve some respect. if you're feeling abused by a mod then you might try Private mesaging him/her.
