the borders are not that big of a deal either. mostly it's religon/giving tech and resource having a war together speeds things up, but even without it i always get them into a permanent alliance

i just tried marathon and had to restart a couple of times. they actually destroyed my capitol. you need to adapt to the new conditions. defence is a priority. you have to get to archery fast or you won't make it. anything that needs a resource is not worth it because they start coming way...

i would say you lost this game. there's just nothing you can do in that short time. but it's a good lesson - the AI diplomacy status doesn't guarantee that you will not get attacked. I had people attack me when I had friendly status (up to 14 green points total, and only 2 or no red point)...

build settler in westport - have it build city on horses (name the city ascot) - build chariot in ascot

how open are you to orders like this: open world builder, give yourself 20 nukes and blow everyone up :-)

i had alex friendly with me because he was my religion and he still attacked. i took one of his cities and after peace he was back to friendly with the only - in the diplo relations for close borders. didn't even complain i took his city :-) i only used nukes once just to see what theye were...

i think that only works on tiles that are beeing worked on by a citizen, so it doesn't help to mine all the hills

the AI once beat me with a diplomatic win. it was a tiny map with only 2 AI civs. i was ahead in the space race and they tried to invade my continent but failed, then they just voted themselfs to victory :mad:

how do you see the +/- modifiers between the AI? i only know how to ask the AI what they think about someone through diplomacy, but only get to see the pleased/annoyed/etc. descripiton.

Victoria handed me mine :) , in a fit of rage I uninstalled the game, but then I installed it again. I don't think I'll play higher then noble with all the bonuses the AI gets - the only bonus it really needs is my own stupidity and theres plenty of that on noble :lol:

press ctrl-g to select all units of the same type, then press on the upgrade icon. all of them have to be in the same place (tile), i don't know if you could upgrade them if they were all over the map.
