Its a type of rocket artillery developed by the Russians in WW2 and used recently by Hezbollah, to significant effect, in their war with Israel. Its basically a block of tubes, sometimes mounted on the back of a vehicle, containing a whole bunch of rockets. You can launch them off in a big...

Can I just suggest steering away from the word 'terrorism' and making more general units for 'asymmetric warfare'? Pretty much every modern nation state has at some point in the recent past involved itself with what someone else considers a 'terrorist' group, and they all say they are opposed...

No, extreme slavery is owning human beings as property whilst abseiling down a glacier.

I would just like to point out that, from a realism point of view, 'suitcase nukes' do not exist. The closest thing is backpack nukes (only developed by the US) which are very large, heavy, and have small yields: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_Atomic_Demolition_Munition Other than...

    Thought on Civics

Subgroups within a society will have their own reasons for cohesion, but the entire society as a whole will have one (main) reason for cohesion. They are not the same at all. The 'president' option implies a democratically elected leader. Largely, this is to manage happiness amongst your...

    Civics

I've been reading this thread and I'd just like to mention I had a crack at civics a while back: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=230313 Comment is welcome

    Really beyond the sword?

That seems a little daft given that only one of the many types of victory is dependent on how much land you grab. For my cultural victory, I avoided excessive expansion and focused on micromanaging my cities (although I was drawn into several wars and expanded slightly as a result). Seems you...

    Really beyond the sword?

I've returned to the game after not playing a while (due to lack of suitable computer, damn you game programmers not writing linux versions!) and noticed something. I played as Julius Caeser on Warlord difficulty, winning a domination victory in 1935 with 24k points Then I played as Spain...

unfortunately I don't have one for that particular game. Same sort of thing happens a lot though.

    Getting stuck at warlord

I've taken a break from Civ for a few months and now am really struggling on warlord level (BTS of course). I simply can't compete without going to war, so I generally start as Aztecs, and beat my nearest neighbour into submission with cricket bats in order to take an early lead. However, by...

    The Trebuchet

A treat for those in the UK: A real, full-size trebuchet being fired twice daily at Warwick castle! (By which I mean they've got a trebuchet there and they are firing it. Warwick castle is not under seige :) ) http://www.warwick-castle.co.uk/events/warwick_trebuchet.asp I'm off to see...

    Best new civ/leader

Have to agree. I've just splatted Ragnar and Monty playing Charlemagne. The UU is amazing, even for offense. Teamed up with Knights and Trebuchets they cut through everything in their path. I've not got to corporations with this particular game, so I shall have to see how the rathaus works out.

An ally in a war may be a bad thing with vassals on

To be honest, it doesn't bother me that much. If I am working with allies, then I am aiming for a non-violent victory. So having an enemy vassaled to an ally suits me fine. The little git can complain all he wants, he can't do anything about it because his master and I are friends. If you are...

    new techs voice over...

I can't imagine why Nimoy wouldn't have done them if he had done the first lot, I would think its more the case it wasn't worth paying his substantial fee for such a small number of techs.
