But they are authority, each has one or two vassals and a conquest of another civ the game was morphed around those that picked authority I assume because of a good performance against raging barbs and the extra culture.
Here's some barbs
Authority AIs seem to be VERY strong BUT I have always been playing with raging barbs to make games more interesting and to make authority stronger. If current barb iteration remains, I will not be playing with raging barbs anymore since they make the game too hectic and seem unbalanced for...
I don't usually work mines. There's just not enough pops -early- to work generic hills mines tiles in addition to the actual good resource tiles, the specialists the farm triangles etc. And if you are prioritising mines you won't have enough pop probably. Unless it's on a fat tradition capital...
God of the Sea is pretty good when it's good, which is rather often.
Stars and Sky and Desert Spirit but they kind of make up for the shortcomings of the terrains. If you start in desert or tundra and don't take them would feel pretty bad.
I want to say Goddess of purity, but it's been a while...
It's convenient for sure.
But I liked having the odd case where the capital and the holy city were different. How often did that happen anyway? To me maybe 3 times?
Do -Great Prophets- have to appear in capitals? I don't think so.
No, let's find another way to make authority AI competitive. Authority Feels good as it is to play, as the more active of the three starting trees, no reason to make them all samey.
If you haven't played tradition or invested into a wonder like Parthenon you wouldn't notice, except maybe a small drop in tradition AI performance. I think everyone that did those things, however, did notice.
The slower the game speed, the better Authority is. I play on epic with raging barbs too, but still feel Authority falls off sometimes. I think it's fine. Maybe playing on Marathon tips the scale for you?
Completely depends on the balance of Progress/Tradition at the current time. If this passes we should be ready to take something away in case Progress seems too good.
