I just attempted and got sick and frustrated with the cultural victory thing. It's probably the worst piece of design I've ever seen... and I know just the thing to make it a lot more viable and possible... for me.
Is it possible to reduce the number of required policy trees from 5 to 4...
I still consider Civilization 5 good, and it will definitely be far from what this Facebook crapperity will eventually be. Besides I'm looking forward to the new Civilization board game by Fantasy Flight Games. Based on Civ5, it seems, which is logical coz Civ5 is quite a lot like a board game. :D
I got a rumory thing that they took those first who had not played Civilization games in the past. Testing whether it'll get approval among casual players...
I'm beginning to think this thing will be a complete disaster regarding gaming in general. I am on Facebook, but these idiotic casual...
Despite me liking multiplayer a lot, I find it has a lot of things to be fixed. Right now the Civ5 multiplayer section is practically dominated by me, Tabarnak, Smote, swordspider, and MasterMishi. Really, 5 people on these boards actively post in that section ... :/
Regarding the XML picture attachment, the XML files are filled with remnants of Civ4. You can find Philosophical/Financial/Industrious/Charismatic leader traits, Apostolic Palace etc...
At this point I want to clarify I have absolutely no coding experience, and make my way by staring the code hoping the logic would drill into my brain. For now the code does look somewhat comprehensible.
Thus decreasing the Major deposit value to lower and increasing the bonus_multiplier from...
Hmm, I've now opened the lua file and looked at it a bit. I think I understand what the things do, but the sparse setting puzzles me.
It states a bonus_multiplier of 1.5, and later all the PlaceSmallQuantitiesOfStrategics routine kicks in where this bonus multiplier will make 23 -> 34.5. I'm...
Well, once you get that coal and build you factory, you don't need no stinking coal. Your factory receives absolutely no penalties even if you lack coal!
So take all of his/her coal, and declare war! Bwahahah!
Sounds nifty. Wonder if that works in multiplayer. Considering it'd be the job of the host to create the map (maybe), only the host should do the LUA modifications. Nevertheless it seems it's obfuscated. Hooray for obsolete values!
Hi all,
I'm planning on doing some XML modifications for a multiplayer game, and there are some things I'm not so quite sure of.
First thing is to increase the amount of iron tiles available. Way too often the lack of iron can cause one player to drop completely out of league. In addition...
Those artist specialists are way too weak, that's true. +1 :c5culture: is so bad compared to the merchant's +3 :c5gold:, engineer's +2 :c5production: or +3 :c5science:. Increasing it to +3 would make them alright.
As it stands multiplayer games can be modded by tweaking the XML files, although this would require everyone to modify them identically to avoid frequent resyncs. These modifications, however, can only be rather minor.
