    Post your AI benchmark score

to update myself, I took this same 7600x system and tweaked what I could, using PBO to boost the core clocks +200 and also overclocked the ram slightly to 5600 and somewhat better timings. Basic AI time = 6.6 sec GS AI time = 28.75sec

    Post your AI benchmark score

I just upgraded my desktop from the Ryzen 1600AF to a Ryzen 7600X. CPU still on completely stock settings and with completely stock DDR5-4800 memory. Basic AI time = 7.81sec GS AI time = 29.60sec I notice that the CPU is barely working hard during the benchmark. total power draw is maybe...

    Improve Turn Time

to figure out frames per second, do 1000 / < frame time>. You're pretty much around 30fps which is... not great, but good enough, graphically speaking. Lowering resolution or getting a faster GPU will get you more frams per second, but won't affect the AI turn time. the AI turn time is all...

    Post your AI benchmark score

Hello, I love this old thread, it's like a great time capsule for such a long running game. I recently was trying out civ on a laptop, and got similarly terrible results, with a few notes for improvement. The laptop is a HP elitebook 840 G6 with a I7-8665U. Intel integrated GPU. So a...

    Less Corruption, More Resistors

well, gee the resistor ideas sound a little too... hard-core. However, i like the idea of throwing in multiethnic citizens. In fact, that could even happen in cities that are founded by your own people. If they're close to another civ (far away from your capital), there's a chance that...

    Wonder's Production speedup

As American (industrious) after replaceable parts, I can plant 8 workers in a single square, and get it to plant-cut-plant-cut. 2 cycles, 20 shields, every turn, and I'm leaving the other land for irrigation and mining. It's silly, but this town doesn't have much land to work with. ER

Ways to exploit mutual protection and alliances

I'm trying to figure out a way to make my total wartime only about 1 turn long, but still get the rest of the world sucked into a war to drain all their resources. :D ER

    Questions Re Power Plants

yeti, yeah, you're right, what I meant to say was "power plants", but I think it's any of the mega-shield producing things cause extra pollution. ER

    Wich are the best wonders?

doh. that would have been nice. But at the time I built it, I didn't actually know what the colossus did. I just wanted my first wonder. And that cities doesn't build too well, so I shoulda built it in the town that would later have newton in it :) ER

    How do you do it?

I've never been good at early military building or expansion. BUt my current (only) game has me in a late industrial time, with only 7 cities (big cities, but only seven). I was running a democracy with many many turns of peace. One of my cities didn't even have a single military unit in it...

    Civ 3 Performance Problems?

I've heard a rumor that there's some bad juju going on between recent Geforce 3 cards and WinME. Course, if it's a general bug, that would explain why my friend says it's really slow on his much faster computer :p ER

    AI --- Cheating? Nah!

heh, lots of games get accused of cheating. I told a coworker (and Civ3 player) that the Civ3 AI doesn't cheat. He said "yeah, I agree, they don't cheat. But they're also playing some totally different game than the player's". :) ER

Ways to exploit mutual protection and alliances

I don't know the answers to this, so I'm posting it as more a "exploration" kinda topic for everyone to use. --- executive summary: I'm not sure how protection pacts work, but I think that they don't take effect until somebody gets shot. Not just a declaration of war. --- So, the...

    Questions Re Power Plants

pollution can come from (I guess) three sources: 1) production 2) population 3) factories So I guess you need to combine recycling + mass transit + clean plants. Or, you know, just don't build anything :) ER
