I'm about to make the jump to immortal. This is exactly my strategy. Play immortal until I can duplicate results per victory condition. I think the higher difficulty will only make the game more enjoyable.

I find myself continually going for the tradition opener, rush to NC before t-100ish, and then just push science until a victory condition shows itself.
How do the denizens of civfanatics vary up their gameplay? Do we force ourselves to focus on dusty regions of the tech tree, do we rush for...
I'm of the school that the earlier the better for beaker bonuses. I like settling early scientists and the like because bonus beakers over a span of turns just makes me warm inside.
You as well as the gentleman before you have given some wonderful domination tips. My question is what of science? How does one keep up in the research game when production and research is geared towards military prowess? On emperor, when do you focus on science or when does your science kick...

I'm getting back into the game and have decided to not lurk around here anymore.
Take Monarch difficulty, inland sea map. What is a reasonable expansion pace? What amount of cities is a good goal to be in a good pace with the rest of the civs and not fall behind in production / tech...
Because I'm somewhat new to Civ IV, I've been playing normal for most of my games, just so I can play more of them. I see myself moving up to epic soon though, the idea of my early armies lasting longer is an appetizing one.
