    The main factor in base score is population, so have more cities and higher population to maximize it, and the main factor in final score is the base score multiplied. The earlier the finish date, the higher the final score. So, grow population and finish quickly and the score will be big.

    Lyons: Yes, unless we settle with the three good tiles in the initial 8, then we are better off settling somewhere else now. The purpose of this city is meant to get online and productive quickly to help with REX. I prefer this approach then.

    There is no way we are settling a 2nd city on that island only to grab silks.. And if we desperately need happiness (long term, since calendar is probably not worth self-teching), we may as well settle ON the silk and work coast tiles anyway, since plains silk is only 1F, and a non-food city...
