not entirely sure if anyone has listed this as a disadvantage or not...
but trading with AI's increases the science output of the cities you're trading with and gives the AI a bit of a boost.
a good way to solve this problem is to switch your government to communism and demand tribute in the diplomacy dialouge.
when cpnfronted with a superior civ the AI will generally give up all its gold for a cease fire.
no gold = no palace building = no capital
then, the next turn take...
i do none of these things, i build a warrior and use it for exploration while i build a second warrior for defense. the second warrior requires no support after one turn (assuming four food, two shield) because the city expands. then, i switch to settler production.
Don't use democracy until the AI is basically completely destroyed. Stick with communism or monarchy until you don't need to wage wars anymore.
I agree with what you said about tech being useless. If you aim for polytheism pretty early you should be able to destroy most of the AI civs before...
No, AI settlers count as military troops and are withdrawn from your cities' spheres of influence when you demand it.
Also, I actually often do the same thing when i start with enough tech to justify it. I find that having a horseman or two is more useful than an extra three or four turns of...
This kind of makes me wonder. The germans were pretty powerful pretty early in the game and he was stuck on a pennensula in close proximity to him. Perhaps this calls for an experiment. Hypothesis: the greeks did not build a city because of the proximity of a powerful civilization.
I'm sorry for kind of interjecting and going off topic here. I've been playing Civ II on and off since i first purchased it in 1997. In my opinion it, and tetris, are the only video games even worth playing.
I keep seeing people mention Diety+ on this board. Can you explain to me or point me...
I actually didn't find him on that mountain. I found him wandering around and 'herded' him onto the mountain with some crusaders to keep him from building a city. -_-
I think i'm deffinitely going to try telling him to remove his troops as an experiment. I'm kind of excited about the...
