    Mod Component Request Thread

Is there a mod out there that lets the player see where Wonders are built? Or even THAT they are built? I know that the diplomacy screen lists wonders a Civ owns, but only if you've met them. And it doesn't say where. And I also know that the graphics appear on the map, but that just doesn't'...

    When will you get Civ5?

Bargain bin. I was a 1st day purchase until this week's news about DRM that requires activation for the game to work. That devalues the product enough for me that I can see myself picking up Civ 5 Complete for $5 in a few years, instead of buying the game and its expansion packs for full price.

Civ5 - shipping with Steamworks * plus Digital Deluxe Edition

I've used it. As I've said, I see the potential that a game I buy may one day be unusable because the program can't phone home as enough of a value killer that I'll only buy games like that for a very small amount of money. Thus, I have lots of games on Steam that cost me less than $10, and...

Civ 5 digital deluxe coming exclusively to Steam! Steamworks confirmed!

I'm sorry, Chalks, but you've answered the question incorrectly. timmey, you will NOT be able to install and play Civilization 5 on a system without an internet connection. While it is true that the game only needs to authenticate itself with the Steam servers once -- at which point you can...

Civ5 - shipping with Steamworks * plus Digital Deluxe Edition

Thank you for clarifying the point. However, it now has changed. At least insofar as I am one of those fans. If I wish to be graceful to Firaxis, I'll say that it is committed up until the point at which its publisher insists on poisoning the well. Activation is a line in the sand that I...

Civ5 - shipping with Steamworks * plus Digital Deluxe Edition

Thank you. However, my question was not about a persistent internet connection. Rather, I'd like to know if the game will install and play without ever having to check in with distant servers to "authenticate" itself. So, in this context, does "having Steamworks" mean that I could install...

Civ5 - shipping with Steamworks * plus Digital Deluxe Edition

In case I'm mistaken by what this all means: Is there going to be a way to purchase Civilzation 5 that does not require the program to "activate" by checking in with servers somewhere? So that, for example, it could be installed onto and played on a computer that does not have any internet...

Civ5 - shipping with Steamworks * plus Digital Deluxe Edition

This is terrible news. If buying a boxed copy of the game means that I get software which won't work until it calls home and "activates" ..... then I'm sorry. No. I've bought every Civ game since Civilization 2 on the day of release. Every expansion pack as well. I love the series and...

Easy on the DRM pretty please?

The single player game should not have any kind of authentication/activation/verification or anything else. Steam or otherwise. I'm buying the product, please do not treat me like a criminal by forcing me to prove my bonafides. Companies, even ones I love as much as Firaxis, fold. If Civ II...

    Beautiful Terrain

The biggest thing I'd like to see improved is the shape of the political borders. The way the borders follow the edges of the hexes makes them look a little silly. If they drew straight lines they'd look better. I'd also be happy to see the return of Civ IV's eye candy borders that follow the...

    Ages of Provolutia, surprise pitboss

I'll second Morgan's comments. I am perfectly happy continuing the game as a 3.17, it was started that way. As all new games will be patched, I'm sure, I imagine I'll dual install eventually. All I ask is for a heads up a few days ahead of time to get things working correctly.

Being able to log into and look at another's civilization would be an ENORMOUS advantage, not a small one. I completely agree that it'd be sad, but it would also have ruinous effects on the game and for that I'd be angry.

If it's possible to remove the password, I'm for it. King Morgan, I hope your comments are sarcastic? They have to be, right?

Nicely done, Giger. We must appreciate the fact that the game is named after the first player to go AWOL. :)
