I have to agree with bhavv, Giggles is flexible and powerful even though protective is still pretty much useless.
After being inspired by the start:crazyeye: I gave this a go. The map is massive and I am sorry to say I got bored - it seemed so easy to keep up in tech while steadily vassalling...
For interest purposes, I would like to see you keep going culture - it always seems the hardest victory condition (prob just my playing style).
I am not an immortal player but does this feel like a normal game? Shouldn't the AI be further ahead in tech by now? Does this mean that Peter has...
It is looking like the east will be the third or fourth city, so we need to add the wheel (after writing?) with a view to hooking the copper when the border pops.
You lost - on to the next game.
OTOH if its mid-game with several hours of play time invested and something critical goes wrong then I might wind back a couple of auto-saves and play it differently.
Hey DMOC, just checking to see how you are doing - must be time for round 2 to be posted :-).
Seriously though, awesome game. Top quality play and rapid updates, what more can we ask for.
I guess the rapid teching is inevitable at Deity because the AI's tech rapidly and trade it around...
Good Job (I think!! - struggling emp cannot really comment on deity play). You certainly have a gift for writing up these games, the right amount of explanation of the critical moves.
Next city is definitely in region of (2), though you may consider 1S as the corn/wine/gold looks like another...
I'm loving my current game on emperor - got AH and HR from the first two huts. Am currently rampaging around with HA's against archers. Should give up really but its fun to have an easy win once in a while.
I think that there is some merit in all the above posts, however I also think that map type makes a huge difference at the higher difficulty levels.
IMHO Fractal is the easiest as you generally only have direct contact with 2-3 civs but you eventually aquire trade awareness with most of the...
Everyone seems to love HA's but I'm not so sure. Playing on Emperor last night I popped HBR from a hut. This is going to be easy I thought... Wrong. My stack of HA's were pasted by defensive swords and even archers.
In retrospect attacking a protective Civ (churchill) was not the best idea...
Reading a lot of recent threads, there seems to be a general dislike of vassals and I'm struggling to understand why.
I generally play at Monarch with random leaders (I know its time to move up to emp) and I have found that my recent games have all been domination wins caused by vassalling...
This is a really good question and I hope some of the "big" players chip in.
Personally in the early part of the game I am trying to expand and tech as fast as possible. As the OP said, there comes a time when you have to decide what victory you are going for.
For a cultural victory you need...
Hi, Like most people in this thread I am only posting to get rid of the reminder message.
I've been playing since Civ1, it was a great game to start with and just keeps getting better. Generally play on prince and I would like to thank the contributors to the strategy section for helping to...
