Launcher seems bugged since latest NFP update?

My game wouldn't launch after the update, so I updated graphics drivers.. no luck. Then uninstalled and reinstalled civ6. It now launches, but the new civs aren't there. Looks like there was a serious bug and the update has been pulled or disabled while they work on a fix.

    Quick Questions and Answers

I was at war with a city state for about three turns (they had the only iron I was able to spot on the map), and without any input from me the game decided we were just automatically at peace and prevented me from declaring war for 9 turns. The only other thing of note that happened on that...

    Avoiding the flood of previews

I'm excited about the new game (already pre-ordered and have been playing Civ V again), and I used to look forward to all the little glimpses we got as the game was developed. Now I'm mostly avoiding all the info and preview play videos because I want my first games to be about discovery. That...

    Luxury resources

I recently set up a game where one of the goals was the Silk Road achievement. I ended up reducing the number of civs on the map to only the ones I needed, so I was playing with less that the default for that map size. While playing I noticed that luxury resources seemed hard to find, but I...

    Barbarians spawn in my land???HELP!!!

They could make the whole thing self correcting by taking the rebel units directly from the population of your most unhappy city. That would be more a more realistic model of large scale civil war and work well within the game mechanics.

early war cripples everything - not fun...

I prefer to play domination games, and have found that the changes to BNW really change that play style. I spend a lot more time just clicking Next Turn now and managing queues. It really effects larger maps too, because you either have to take a lot of AI cities, or fill up the space with...

Coordinated general strike action across Europe: Workers of the world unite!

.. and in other news, Foxconn will be installing up to 10,000 robots soon, with the goal of replacing 1,000,000 workers within the next three years. Workers across the glove go on strike, but have no jobs to strike from any longer...

    Committing mentally ill people

I walk past a dozen or so homeless people every morning on my way from the bus to work, and about half of them are talking to non-existent people. One lady holds a toy cell phone to her ear and talks to someone who is supposed to help her every morning. It's obvious that these people, while...

    Where's Germany's gold?

The problem w/ most gold plated USB connectors is that they highlight the gold plating on the shroud portion, not the actual connectors (the portion inside the 'duck bill'). Those connectors are very often gold plated, but it's hard to see so I can't confirm the few I have sitting around here.

    Is intelligence important?

Your original posts asks if intelligence is important, but you didn't say important for what? Society? Individual Success? Happiness? If you look at studies like the Chicago Longitudinal Study and some of the meta studies being done; it's becoming apparent that the human mind is very...

Other natural wonders in North America?

The massive river side bonus from the Miss. and it's tributaries should make the Eastern US pretty prime real estate already. The northern area should all be pasture/hills/riverside/grasslands, and the Ozarks adn Appalacians should have massive amounts of coal, oil (NG) and other resources.

    Israel bombed Sudan?

Even if it was Isreal, so what? Both countries are basically sworn enemies, however much we like to pretend that things should be all happy and peaceful in the world. It just isn't uncommon for countries to take covert actions against one another and then simply refuse blame. Some nations do...

    Camera Suggestions

For travel and hiking I usually pack a rugged PnS. I have an older Olympus that was OK, and I really like the current Sony w/ the panorama feature. I love that it will shoot for days without a recharge and can be dropped / submerged / rained on, without much worry. If you're going to be...

    Price help!

We pretty much throw those out here. We've even started dumping Core 2 Duo machines w/ up to 2 GB of RAM, and we have a pile of 17", and now some 19" LCD monitors. There just isn't really any value in them from a business perspective, but you might get $50 from someone really in need I guess.

Will there be 21 century leaders worthy of a future Civ game?

Obama could make it if he gets the first people to Mars (OK, unlikely to actually happen under his actual term in office) MT for making Great Britain a player again, or maybe one of the Royals if they actually do something more important than appear on a tabloid cover? Were there any...
