    rage quit

I've seen some odd similarities in some of my games. I was just playing a game as the Ottomans, chugging along and leading the other five or so Civs on my continent, both in score, tech, and economy (I was playing on warlord to get a feel for the changes from Civ IV). I was sitting with a...

    Die-Trying Challenge

Sorry for the lapse - I've been quite busy and have not had much time to play, and it appears it will remain that way for the near future. This update shall be short, but I promise the next will include some action. Firstly, our research path was Sailing - Mysticism - Agriculture - Iron...

    Die-Trying Challenge

We begin this challenge deciding to take a chance by moving one west towards the other coastal area we can see and decide to settle - and find cattle to our west! Production begins on a work boat and we begin researching animal husbandry. Exploration reveals a desolate, frozen wasteland...

    Die-Trying Challenge

Lots going on in this discussion, things I like to see, so let me make some responses. First off, I've never even heard of the RB site, this is something that I just thought would be fun. I had no delusions that this would be an original idea... I am sure hundreds of people have tried the...

    Die-Trying Challenge

It was previously stated in the rules that I could research everything in the trees up to writing, iron working and metal casting, and that after that point I could only research that required for berserkers. However I'm going to amend that and include monarchy for heridatary rule. My only...

    Die-Trying Challenge

Well, after some play testing, I've determined that the AI will accept their cities back during peace negotiations, the only problem is that the AI typically will not negotiate for a few turns, so I will have to hold cities for a period of time before I can negotiate for peace and then turn them...

    Die-Trying Challenge

I like your ideas Mzprox. I've already done a little play testing and I'm afraid that I may have to amend the tech rules to include Monarchy as a researchable technology in order to obtain and use Hereditary rule. I've been almost paralyzed on noble level due to disorder in the cities - my...

    Die-Trying Challenge

Okay, in response to some concerns and ideas: The berserker thing was an oversight on my part - I intended to be able to get berserkers but didn't realize they were farther down the tech line than I thought. So the amended technology rule would be the ability to research at all speed up to...

    Strategy objectives- Long term

I agree. I have been a proponent for bringing Saturn into the fold and possibly fostering an alliance with them against Cav later in the game once Sancta is taken care of. Simply put, Cav is the biggest threat in the game right now in my opinion, perhaps moreso than Sancta. We have very...

    Die-Trying Challenge

Hello all and welcome to my first role-playing challenge. I'm a long time poster and player and have always enjoyed the role-playing aspect of Civilization. My favorites involve putting myself in interesting, sometimes impossible, situations and then seeing how far I can get. After a long...

    Saturn Embassy & Intelligence

I agree in the sense that we should try to keep everything on the low so that Cav or MS don't become suspicious. However, there are paths we can take to achieve OUR aims without hopefully raising too much suspicion: 1. Communicate with Saturn our possible interest in an alliance, and that...

    Saturn Embassy & Intelligence

I agree with the assessment on Cav... I think they are our biggest threat beyond Sancta - simply reading their missives just gives me a bad feeling. They seem a little overbearing and very much interested in making us do all-out research for their benefit under the guise of "the alliance." It...

    Strategy Objectives - Mid Term

Some people have already mentioned Aktau as a possible candidate for production - I suppose because it has so many forests in its area. I was just going off that, but I agree that it's not a good site for production capability - the forests won't come into their own really until replaceable...

    Strategy Objectives - Mid Term

If we decide to make Pavlodar a commerce city foremost and a production city secondarily, we are still left with the question: Which city is our primary production city? At this moment Aktau is the only likely candidate and its terrain is iffy because of the tundra. The area where we intend...

    Strategy Objectives - Mid Term

Prov has a good point, Pavlodar is easily the most defensible city in the nation - building most of our wonders there would make it easier to hold on to if we are ever invaded. I think that is one more good reason to make it our production city foremost and a gold city secondarily.
