    Another poor isolated start

Culture should be doable, but you really miss production for early wonders. With guilds and caste, workshops will be able to do the trick, though.

Last Week, I modded Gandhi to be Phi/Ind

I'm not sure playing IND/PHI is the best way to improve your game. Try the radically other approach: no wonders. This will help you focus on how to build an army and how to get a decent economy to sustain it. I was (and still am) very fond of building these shiny things instead of a lousy...

Doesn't look like I'll finish this game before a good week or so, here's a quick update on my game. No screenshots, though.

Yeah, I guess a succesful REX strategy is something you need to learn before playing on Monarch and above. I'm going to have a read at MadScientist's "REX queen Cathy" RPC to see how he handled it economically. http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=278046

Nobles Club IX - Joao II!

I had a first try, but totally went bankrupt at rexing. My economy was insignificant and I couldn't build anything else than workers/settlers or axes in my core cities. I think I'll review the techpath, cottaging early to get to currency (trade routes, markets, build wealth option) and CoL...

    EXTREMELY early garbage rush theory.

I just did a warrior rush on Prince. With Ragnar on Pangaea. Lisbon was close enough. Result: In 3100BC, the Portuguese civ has been destroyed, I have 2 cities @ pop2, 4 warriors (only one died in the attack) and a (captured) worker. Great!

Role Play Challenge: Cold, Drunken, Viking, Scum

Yeah! Work those sea tiles, get to astronomy asap, ship you berserkers to wherever there's some booze and have fun pillaging, raping the sheep and slaughtering the women!!

Role Play Challenge: Cold, Drunken, Viking, Scum

^ Agree. With fishing and financial, a coastal start is a great starting point. With a lake, that's even better. You can always move your palace inwards to reduce maintenance and turn the old capital into a GP farm

Dotmap this: An Embarrassment of Riches!

I'd take 4-4 first. nets you two strategical resources that could be very useful if/when the Khan releases his Keshiks. In fact I would've settled that one before Sparta. Being creative, I'd try to get the better spots in the jungle before the Mongol. That would imply IW early. --Humble...

    Civilization V

There should be a land based unit (cannon-like) capable of shooting at ships in the adjacent tile. Something available around the renaissance era (at gunpowder?). They could be trimmed by only being able to attack from a city (or a fort). With that you could protect the entry to your a sea...
