I looked at the file in a hex editor and it looks like the character encoding of it was marked wrong for whatever reason. I attached a fixed version of the file.

Enraged probably needs to be changed so that there is a small chance of it wearing off each turn, since there is often nothing to attack, which leads to the unit acting... strange.

With huge world size, toroidal wrap, civ 4 plot finder, no peak softening, and FlavourStart, it takes a few seconds to generate a map. However, with the same settings, but with peak softening on, map generating never seems to end, requiring me to close the game via task manager.

On the Erebus map script, having 'Peak Softening' enabled appears to drastically increase map setup time.

It sounds like you are running Vista. Press Start>Games and the shortcuts should be there.

you can make sure windows is up to date by running windows update. (Start>All Programs>Windows Update) go here and download the most up to date drivers for your integrated graphics card disk 1 is the "play" disk for my copy of Civ IV, so try it as I may have been mislabeled

I think you need to put disk 1 in. also, make sure your copy of windows, drivers, and directX are all up to date.

Since 3.19, having the "No Espionage" option ticked doubles the amount of culture required for each level of growth.

I believe that this issue can be fixed by copying the cd files to the hard drive and running them from there.
