I quickly realized that you never have too many artilleries. Build as many as you can, you basically only need the other units to guard the artillery, mop their damage and guard cities. Sent them all to attack first but expect to lose two or three of them for each cities, which is why you need...
I'd put Bombard but as siege weapon only. They would have the same value of the Cannon to reduce defensive bonuses of a city except that they would not ignore walls and castle. Plus they would be strength 6 and no collateral damage so they would not obsolete trebuchets as they did not in real...
One turn maybe, if it's really worth it but I never spend two turns for that. I'll rush a settler if there is a nearby position that is that much worth it. And you can always switch your capital later in the game if you want it.
Honestly, there is no traits that I put above or below all the rest. I always play with random civs and leaders and works with what I get and there is no trait that I'm more happy to get or bad enough for me to restart.
I kinda like Spiritual for the civic switching and the possibility to get...
Just finished a game as NA and let me tell you that Totem Poles are awesome. Of course I also had the good luck of getting the StoneHenge, something I rarely do. Being protective (like Sitting Bull is) and getting 2 promotions right away means some nice balanced protection for your cities and...
The Great Prophet is fine as it is and the Great Engineer is great for building wonders but rather lousy to settle. Maybe just bump it to 5 hammers instead of 3, I think that should do it.
This will not solve your problem but just as a word of advice, stay clear from ATI video cards. I always had problems like that with ATI cards before and then I switched to nVidia and never had a single problem again. I'm not saying you should switch card but the next time you are about to buy...
I'm currently playing my first game as a drafter and I must say that I like it a lot. Of course, my situation basically call for that as all my cities are coastal with some fish and very little production. I've been whip happy like never before and I had to rush to nationalism as I was looking...
I was thinking about the exact same thing. The no brokering should only be for a certain amount of time. After x numbers of years it seems a bit ridiculous that you can't trade a tech that you've mastered for so long.
I think Standard Ethanol and Sid's Sushi are competing corporations and therefore can't coexists in the same city. Just like Mining and Creative Construction can't coexists either. You have to be careful in choosing which corporations you really want.
