    well, i was thinking +1 for incense and the seven extra +1 from the cathedrals ;) if you actually get all religions to spread in your empire i think it is better to go free religion for the happiness instead of the religious buildings

    happiness penalty for undefended cities seems to be 33% of the city size (at noble difficulty). also note that each type of cathedral adds +1 happy for incense, so a city having a cathedral for each religion gets a total of +8. the palace also gives +1 for your capital
