Well you built a monument which decreased culture tile costs, so the same probably happened with the gold due to the monument.

I don't think city-states get resources revealed until half the civilizations have discovered the tech for it, but you might be able to pay 200 gold for them to improve it.

Adopt the order ideology, it has plenty of happiness benefits, like the +2 happiness for each monument. The last one in commerce is great too. And don't let your cities get too big, set a growth limit on them if you are having bad problems.

A lot of the information from Info Addict can be found after you win a game, I think. But you can see a civ's happiness in the culture overview and I'm not sure about culture but that's probably somewhere in the culture overview too.

That's really hard to see, but I think the game occasionally messes up the map coding. Once as Egypt on a normal BNW game (no mods) I started in a desert with Citrus on the flood plains. Never saw that before or after that game.
