    Going for Gold: Units

This is why I find them useless. You need to pretty much have 100% won the naval war for them to be marginally effective, at which point you're probably better off building land units or non-mil buildings/units, since you've already won.

    Going for Gold: Units

Does anyone actually use the Dromon? -Gets almost 1 shot by triremes -1 less movement than triremes -Stuck to coast tiles, which makes it EXTREMELY difficult to maneuver with only 3 movement. All of these combine to what I consider a near-useless unit. Early naval combat seems to be focused...

    Quick Questions / Quick Answers

Which patch are you playing on? One of the older ones (IIRC May or June) had a happiness bug that was fixed, and caused happiness to bounce around all over the place.

What maptypes do you guys play on? I've been using communitas pretty much exclusively, but don't really like how random your starting place is (can be on a continent by yourself, or with 4 other civs, etc.)

    Maya

Played a domination game as the Mayans and had a great time. They are absolutely all over the place, though. Since the GP bonus is tied to Years and not turns, you have absolutely no choice but to rush mathematics to begin the great count. This was fine, and played well into my early conquests...

    Aztecs

I think the Aztec are overpowered if anything, in the hands of humans. Aztecs are the only civ I can even come close to competing with on Deity, and the early snowball is the reason. Jaguars help establish your pantheon, handle barbarians with ease, and stacked with authority on kill bonuses are...

Why am I going from +11 happiness to -27 happiness off of discovering metallurgy? I've never had this issue in games before, I can upload the save if needed. Before stealing metallurgy: https://i.imgur.com/sG22Rhk.jpg After stealing metallurgy: https://i.imgur.com/6qabMq2.jpg and two turns...

(LOCKED) Going for Gold: Great People

A small but meaningful balance change for great merchant would be to either buff their movement range, or allow them to be consumed instantly. Engineers, Scientists, Artists can all be consumed as soon as they spawn, but Merchants have to travel to a city state for their "instant boost" choice...

    Ethiopia

Ethiopia AI is more likely to snowball, but so are any civilizations with powerful early game bonuses. For every runaway ethiopia I've seen 3 runaway Celts, or Shoshone.

    Going for Gold: Pantheons

Goddess of Wisdom covers the weakness of playing non-progress wide; and turns what should be glacially slow tech speed to quick enough to remain competitive. Mid/Late game doesn't really matter with this pantheon since you're going it until you get someone elses religion. The faith part of this...

    Going for Gold: Pantheons

Goddess of Wisdom seems too strong, in my opinion. I'll almost always go it if I'm going a non-religious authority/tradition game as it catches you up in science a LOT early game, and the AI rarely seems to prioritize it so it's always there. In Immortal+, it seems almost mandatory to take...

What building do you skip in most cites?

Caravansary in most cities except my centre of trade, Council is very low on the priority list usually, ampitheatre and baths generally don't get built in aggressive games until I hit unit cap.

    Austria

In my Austria games I find gold to be the limiting reagent to diplomarriages, since you'll get boatloads of influence from the +50% rewards. I generally prioritize not falling behind in early/mid game as Austria though, so a lot of gold goes to keeping up with the neighbours on...

    Venice

I played a Venice immortal game that started out as a tourism run but ended up as a full conquest as my power started to pull away. I think the nerf to GP generation is more than made up by the buffed happiness/supply cap of having a lot more puppets. I wasn't micromanaging the puppets build...
