Custom quest (a la your really cool progenitor ruins quest)
At some point in the game (turn 70~ on standard) have a quest pop-up for the player that provides some real immersion/interaction with the aliens on the map.

I have a simple idea. Add a difficulty level setting to the aliens (as a dropdown in game setup) where you have say - 3 levels:
Easy
Medium
Hard
The aliens' base strength and scaling strength increase with difficulty level, and on Hard you have a chance of aliens dropping Alien artifacts.
I am using an Nvidia gtx 590 (3gig) with Windows 10 (64 bit, enterprise edition). Latest drivers.
Had the loopback issue. Solved it by verifying game cache.
Now I am getting another crash ~10 turns in to any game where my NVidia drivers stop responding and are recovered, but the CIV game...
JSJ - are you still having this crashing issue? I managed to resolve mine by installing some legacy Windows 10 Nvidia drivers - I think my card (gtx 590) is a bit out dated.

I was trying to be polite but you continually do a fantastic job of somehow turning any discussion aggressive/in to an argument. What I said is not nonsense, and if you disagree with what someone has said - you need to provide evidence to the contrary - not simply tell someone they are wrong...
Then why do you spend so much time posting on a forum dedicated to BE? Clearly you do care enough to spend a fair amount of time discussing the game - so it is worth your time (?).
If you read what I said in my post I wasn't trying to convince you of anything, I was just trying help you have some slight resemblance of appreciation for the BE dev team. That article examples the introduction of the Victory Wonders, and how that particular problem was coded on top of the CiV...
