Hey Hobbs, are you paying any attention to the "Things Are Getting Better!" thread in OT?

The link's in my signature, although there is no content in it that would be particularly interesting to a rocket scientist. ;)

It will basically feature environmental posts, healthcare posts, media posts, and occasionally social welfare/justice posts. Nothing extremely scientific. Mostly opinion/experience articles.

You can't post your own content in Cool Pictures, that's like good guy gregging yourself.

I put a lot of time into the illustrations and I like to show them off. I'm much more concerned about what the crowd of regulars at OT think of my work than literally (not figuratively) anyone else on the internet. So why wouldn't I post it here?

Gotcha. Missiles alone probably made it "stronger" than the Yamato, despite inferior size, armor, and battery.

Old WW2 hulls do seem pretty impractical as missile ships. I'd wager its better to be a small target and launch missiles than be large target and launch missiles.

      However, I am no expert!

No worries. I didn't think you were referring to me; just wanted to clarify that that's not the only response you can get in the thread. There is good reason to be skeptical that technological progress would naturally bring about social progress. We've raised standards of living by a lot due to technological progress, but I think we can also see that it has not naturally made things more equal. That being said, Marx believed that technological progress would cause mass unemployment, which would push society towards revolution. That's a different way of conceiving it, but still it shows that traditional Marxist thinking does put some stock in technological progress being a factor.

Yeah, there are a few times where I can see the most recent poster and near-perfectly predict the content. Although it's not always a bad thing: when you see a JR post you know it's going to be a witty one-liner.
