To be honest, I really enjoyed Adams' music in late Civ IV. But even excepting from that, I guess it all boils down to what I've written in another thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=9966841&postcount=45)
Civ IV had a good selection of first class classical music, which has...
I am glad to see this topic posted. To be honest, the music we got in Civ5 is one of the major issues I have with the game - one that I find consistent with the general 'streamlining' of the entire Civilization concept. The obvious difference between Civ4 and Civ5 in this aspect is that the...
I thought jazz finally got good when Northern Europe picked it up, no? ; )
That aside, I am really happy about the art style. Just hope the very high requirements won't force me to play on low settings and miss the good art altogether...
Not sure when you started gaming, but for me, in most cases new games = streamlined and less complex. A prime example here are the so called 'strategy games' of today, or what passes for RPGs. Still, I appreciate that, as I no longer have time to 'work' on a game.
EDIT: And upon reflection...
I don't really get what the fuss is all about. Steam these days is a very nice service, which I enjoy a lot, in fact, most of my gaming is done through steam. With its release for mac (hopefully this month), this will only make the situation better - hopefully this means Civ5 for mac getting...
You wrote a very informative and interesting post, and a humbler one that many would. However, seeing how Dale turned into a troll in all of these country threads, I'd suggest we adopt the best approach to trolls: don't feed them. These topics will change nothing.
The first three of these claims are obviously not true:
- in fact micro is what RTS is all about.
- last time I heard starcraft was the national sport of Korea, and it's over 12 years old.
And it's funny that you included rock in your second group. There really isn't much of distinction...
I was shown Civ 1 at a New Year's Party in 1993. Needless to say, I mostly remember the game from that night. I subsequenty got it for my Amiga and became thoroughly addicted. A late sleeper, I would get up half an hour early, just to catch a couple of turns before school.
Then came civ2, and...
Interesting.
I just hope there's a way to turn off the full-screen diplomacy thing, so that one can actually concentrate on the game, instead of on Caesar wiggling his brows.
You raise an excellent point. I really wonder how they'll handle this. I hope it doesn't turn into a lot of micromanagement (double clicking lots of tanks and rightclicking on a location worked pretty well).
I've always viewed warfare in civ only as a measure of how well your economy works. A...
That's quaint. Let's look at this objectively. Nationalism implies some sort of ethnic identification with a state and the belief that one's nation is of special importance. I cannot see how any of my comments about the Hagia Sophia could be deemed so. I am not Greek (they would be the only ones...
