Yeah, one north of the cow is a better site and I don't agree with the settling of New York. How are you going to grab the clam now? 1SE of the wheat is far more superior.
Corn+Cow to the southeast is a good 2nd city spot then the rice. The northern part is secure so no need to settle it early. I'd go Archery next if there's no copper nearby unless you can fogbust fast enough with warriors. Then go Writing for library to run some scientists--you have plenty of...
1W if you want the marble in your BFC and want to keep the fresh water bonus, otherwise 1S or SIP and grab marble with another city. Ind+Marble=tons of fail gold to fund research.
River start is a great start in my opinion, especially if it comes with a couple of good food resources and some hills for production. I like to cottage my capital that has plenty of river tiles, so that I can benefit from Bureaucracy. A capital with a lot of food means you can grow the cottages...
Seems like a great start with 3 gem-tiles. I would give it a try but I don't have Buffy and probably won't get it. BUG+BULL already gives my game enough trouble with the lag.
Play it out anyway. I would have rerolled for a different leader since I've just recently finished a deity game as Cathy. I just couldn't give this start up....
You're right there's not a lot of food here (if only the pig was on grassland instead) but there's enough to work all 3 gold mines. I was thinking of using the Pig/Rice site for a second city and had I known there was a third gold, I would have moved my settler 1E.
I was going to try a different strategy out on Immortal when I rolled this amazing start on my very first attempt. Note that the southernmost gold revealed after I settled in place. That's why I decided to post the game here. Therefore, I won't have an initial save. Nonetheless, it is still a...
I played the game up until 1500's and capitulated 2 AI's already. At this point, I've had the game won. It is just a matter of time. I agree wonders in this game are going really slow. In my game, I was able to snag a few, including the MoM. Techs are slow as well.
Early commerce boost is so crucial on Immortal. You have no idea what an extra :commerce: could do for you this early in the game. Sal's traits do not allow for faster worker or settler. Wasting 2 turns just to settle on the Marble without knowing what to expect is very risky. If there isn't any...
I would move 1S, settling on the wine to get 3:commerce: off the bat, which will help a lot given Sally's weak traits combo. Plus moving 1N means wasting a FP.
