Anyone Else Not Play To Win?

I also enjoy just to develop my nation and not to worry about victory conditions. I nowadays turn Space Race off, because that would end the game too early. The first time I think about possible victory becomes about year 1900 or so. Usually I aim for cultural vic, but check if anything else is...

Be honest! Who currently still prefers Civ IV?

I purchased BtS only a few months ago (a very late adopter?) so I'm definitely not bored by it yet. And my PC is over 5 years old, so... there's some hardware to be acquired. How sluggish do you see Civ 5? Civ 4 is the worst memory hog I've encountered... (easily 1 gig in lategame) and I play...

    Fun, until the end...

Lately (well, few games a year) I have excluded Space Race from victory conditions just to try something else. But because I'm too lazy to aim for other victory types than Time, the last 100 turns sometimes feel rather dull. I've found out that modern warfare is rather satisfying. And I have...

What does "small chance to discover..." mean?

I'd say, using good old Stetson-Harrison method, that my civ has discovered one extra resource per two games played. I play usually normal speed, standard map.

    The Civ V wish-list!!!

I'm with the idea about border-negotiations. And splitting the civilization in half was a fun concept in CIV 2. (Sorry, might be a chewed-out topic already.) At least the underlying idea of a civilization being composed of several groups. How about conquering quarter or half your neighbor civ...

Should the Colloseum be a Wonder?

I think that colosseum should be renamed as stadium in future CIV games. But maybe it's just one of those legacy things. And bring on the Olympic Games Wonder - for some cultural and diplomatic bonuses.

    Undeclared war

Well, I would put war in the different category altogether. It's basically a state-controlled murder scheme, nothing compared to "normal" life. And surprise wars may save lives on both sides, if the defender is horribly unprepared. But I understand your motivation. See Wikipedia: I...

    Excellent Firefox Addons

My current list: Download manager tweak - a classic add-on. keyconfig - to fix those odd default key configutarions :) linky - to open multiple links or URL's presented as text only. OpenBox - well, having a separate 'open' dialog is just an old habit. PDF Download - for a few times it has...

    Should I buy more Memory?

Yep... 1 Gigs is adequate for CIV 4 but I experienced lag anyhow with larger maps. So I recently bought more RAM... just to force myself to start playing again :)

    I want a Commodore 64.

I hope you find one. Note my sig... :)

    34+

Whoa.. you can play 34 civs nowadays? Definately the time for me to reconsider my CIV 4 break and get those packs...

500 ways you know your computer sucks

What if Civilization was created by...

We all (?) know that Civilization has been created and developed by Sid Meier first and several companies afterwards. But what would have been the result if Civilization would have been created by others? Let's take a look... - Bullfrog: you can modify the terrain near your Populous tribe and...

    Patch v1.61 Issues

IMHO the game slows down and the movies explode at certain stages despite patching. CIV 4 uses a lots of memory - most I've seen - and I'm ready to accept that I just need more and better hardware?

    Religions you usually found

I want to have a religion of my own. Also I want to have Stonehenge but usually I don't have Mysticism at start, so I have to invent it. Usually some civ has it allready and inventing Meditation, so I go for Polytheism = Hinduism instead to be sure... this seems rather safe thing to do, at least...
