If you could design a perfect civ ???

I would add the puplic works idea from Call to Power. I always loved that way more than moving workers around. And if we are going to dream big: Custom units from SMAC. I see no reason it couldn't be done thru the ages. Start with club dude, then comes hunting to get bows and spears, with...

How many have played this series since Civ 1?

I tried doing that a few years back and it bombed repeatedly, How may I ask did you get it to run? On what type of system? Did you get some type of update? PS love your avatar, Black Mage rules!! Stabbity!!

How many have played this series since Civ 1?

A navy buddy introduced it to me when we were on leave in 1992. We stayed up all night to beat it, then went to dennys for some grand slams. Been hooked ever since, played Civ 1 when they ported it to SNES. Then had civ2, SMAC & CTP thru college. I found this site when I heard the rumors of civ3...

    New IGN preview

"Your proposal is acceptable" But I am still worried that for such a global strategic game, this style of combat maybe too tactical. We all accepted before that the little pikeman on the screne represented a sizable force of men. And having several combined arms in a single square was a...

    New IGN preview

The things that concern me have been mentioned: Group Movement of units??? 1) without some kind of system, by the early industrial [when a large portion of the conquest always seems to take place in my games] you could be moving 50+ units per turn, which will suck. 2) unless with the ne...

    building your own units

Don't they kinda look bland now?? I mean the only difference between most units is the civ color. Now if they diversified the units like danrell's (for reference). Then I could see winning that argument. Otherwise I would rather have SMAC style. Make 10 different types of everything and let...

    The Manhattan Project

I know this is a bumb of an old thread but I did not want to start a new one on the same topic. If the AI builds the Manhattan Project and I raze the city it's in, does it remove all players ability to construct nukes?? Or is it a pandoras box kind of thing?

This game's place in Civilization history...

I voted 8 But you have Quayle ahead of Gore????????? If I had to be one of those two men, I would pick the Oscar winning, lecture circuit gentleman any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Would this game have been better on the Wii?

It's not a problem. I have the DS version and I can play with or without the stylus. Without it works fine and the are 8 buttons and a control pad. Doesn't the wii-mote with the chuk already have that? Easy peasy, nice and cheesy.

    The AI has no personalities

Isn't that what a personality is? A particular behavior pattern? That layout of patterns is what I have witnessed for my 8 games I have played. They don't seem too random, but based on my level and military build up they do change their aggression level slightly. And if they were as widely...

What's the rate of city growth?

Good question. I’m only guessing from casual observation, but it definitely has to do with your city size on a straight line. Some type of base number (assume 10) then add 2 needed food for every pop point. (since cities start with 2 pop, then to go to size 3 is 12 food then size 4 is...

Civ DS, is it worth the money?

If I'm in the car I use just controls, if I'm at the table I use just the stylus. The only thing you cant do with the sylus is the menus from the start & select button. No big deal.

    Help with DS version

You will not be able to see units in the enemies cities like you do yours. So even though it looks empty it is not. Attack the city with an army until the all units are dead, then the city becomes yours.
