Gamespy Interview - More Journalistic Cowardice

Only in the states i believe. The rushed date allowed them to beat AOEIII in most other parts of the world. Second point... About the point that the game should've been more polished before it was released... Game companies work on fairly unique budgets. You make a product, sell the product...

Out of the entire Tech Tree, which Tech Would You Pick?

First, read the OP... don't factor in bonuses from being the first to a tech. Second, no-one is going to pay you a cent for Uranium until they get the tech for it themselves.

    Best Leader for newbie

Sure anyone can benefit from financial, but just spamming cottages everywhere isn't a good way to learn the game. Balancing out your improvements so that you maximise your income while not killing your production or growth can be quite difficult, especially if you have no idea what specific...

    Best Leader for newbie

Easiest traits: Creative Expansive Aggressive Midrange: Industrial Spiritual Hardest (i.e. need to know the game to get the most out of them): Philosophical Organised Financial I'd recommend starting with a combination of the 'easiest' grouping. These traits pretty much take...

Complete research doesn't work in late game

You can never choose which tech your GP researches. IIRC, it's assigned to the individual GP at the time of their creation and doesn't change, unless you research the tech that it's been assigned.

It's too crowded! How do I fix?

'It's too crowded' can't be fixed. It's basically the game's way of simulating that crime etc goes up as city size increases. It starts kicking in at a certain pop point, which differs depending on what difficulty level you're playing. You've just gotta make more happy faces to counter it.

"[Religion] has been founded in city X!" NO! NOT THAT CITY!

So you want to play God as well as emperor now huh? Religion is meant to be an 'inspired' event. Governments never got to choose where Christ, or Mohammad (sp), or Confucious were born... they just had to react once these movements started overtaking their cities. Do you think it makes...

emphasise research...seems obvious, but what exactly does it do?

It could be that it's really really smart... In your second screenshot your library (i.e. research building) has gone from 2 turns away to 1 turn away. Finish the library and then see what happens to the AI's tile selection... I'd be very interested to know. I don't know if i'm giving the...

    Watermills

Workshops have their niche. A couple of times I've had border cities located on coasts or peninsulas with few or no hills. The coastal squares (and fishing resources in most of those occurences) gave me ample food and commerce, so I dropped workshops on most of my land tiles because I needed...

    Another concern - scoring

Using that as my premise, I'm not talking about GOTM scoring but about the Boston Marathon analogy. To defend the marathon analogy... I went with a group of people in the Sydney marathon this year (one of the stages) but not everyone was aiming to finish as quickly as possible. In a sample...

2 Bugs: The computer DOES 'cheat' and Screenshot woes

Ok... just to possibly provide SOME doubt... What if the warrior had Woodsman 2 - allowing two moves per turn through jungle?
