Can you still normally research in this Challenge? I think potential spice the Challenge might need (which may however backfire), is to make (for the player) Eurekas the only way to progress, not the main efficient way.
Also, given that these Challenges seem to be them testing waters for Civ 7...
I'd first and foremost say that I can reluctantly excuse many a thing of the game If I can Mod it - hopefully support for that is priority, I didn't see any files that seemed editable without Unity or at all. As for observation more tangible to be fixed:
Although I still never bothered to get...
About the difficulty, I feel like the game truly does only set it for AI (exactly as UI suggests).
I play on lowest diff usually because I like me some peaceful building sim. Then a single Barbarian Archer assaults my Army of 2 Spearmen and 1 Crossbowman, all with 1 Promotion and 100% Health and...
DLC/Expansion2/Data > Expansion2_Civilizations.xml
Search TRAIT_CIVILIZATION_MOTHER_RUSSIA. There's modifier TRAIT_BLIZZARD_PREVENTION_SIGNIFICANT plus 3 more.
Same file contains code to prevent specific random event, you'd have to look elsewhere for all possible keywords other than the Blizzard.
Didn't even take that long for a fictional/sci-fi challenge.
I wonder If they could pull off something more fantasy, given that they probably depend mostly on existing resources/assets. Would probably rely on Secret Societies a lot.

It's with Heroes & Legends mode too, interesting.
This could bring potential, in Civ 7, to implement Scenarios and Modes in this way. Like one of the challenges could use unique Civ + Leader a be something Steampunk / Fantasy, one could have different rules about Barbarians or Resources, etc.
I agree but 'tis the way with many modern games nowadays and as per the recent job listing thing it seems Firaxis wants to join them, or so was my understanding of it.
Maybe it's not just about reviving hype for Civ 7 announcement but also testing yet another future feature? Humankind also does some challenges here and there and it goes into the nowadays typical "Don't allow players to forget your game for a second, spam them with activities" business...
Ad Improvement vs District: District kills the yields of where it is placed, Improvement usually adds onto them. I would actually work more with this, make Districts more creatively about what it is adjacent to, Improvements what it is on. Lumbermill getting Production per adjacent Forest sounds...
Well hopefully it won't end up like The Sims 4 where Ultimate Collection will cost 1000+€ or such because what used to be part of Exp Pack will now be separated into million packs. Governor Game Pack, Loyalty Game Pack, Ages Game Pack is already haunting my dreams.
