There are improvements to farms in the tech tree that are very good, so unless you go for those virtues (and why would you get both?) farms end up better.

Does getting it free actually count? I know that the free colony pod from the virtue doesn't fulfill the build one quest...

I've noticed that things like fruit or fungus are only 1 extra food base and 1 more improved. That can be nice very early but there are a number of improvements to farms that make them a much better choice pretty quickly. There is an early wonder for +1 food which makes them tied already, and a...
(I'm surprised there isn't already a thread on this; unless there is and I'm blind, in which case link me there and ignore this.)
So, I have Brave New World and I love it- highly recommended. However, for all the new stuff in the expansion the biggest change isn't trade routes, or tourism, or...
Gee, thanks.
But yeh, I get that it is generally easier to survive in OCC; the tricky part is managing to stop an AI winning long before you with your extremely limit resources. You could have a near perfect game with no conflict at all and be on track to win by 220 (extremely early for...
I was about to be really sad until I realized this was a standard multi-city strategy. My OCC skills are, well, my only skills, and I was thinking you'd just blown me out of the water.:cringe:

Oh they still are. I play lower levels to mess around but sometimes but if some civ really bugs me CB/XB spam is how I end them. It is worth noting, however, that they are less noticeably OP if you don't already know just because other things can work.
I just so happen to be a software engineer and currently working on a mid level AI system that can choose between various tactics.
It be HARD.
The game I'm coding for isn't nearly as complicated as CiV, there are so many variables to track. It is easy to see them do something and call it dumb...
This right here. I almost want to sig this statement. It perfectly sums up my only real grievance with this game. To beat deity you can't just do a very good job of building a civilization, you have to do a ton of very specific and often unrealistic actions that make every successful game almost...
