Warmongering and diplomacy - can they be compatible

HI all, Sorry if this reads a bit poor I have just completed a game and it is 4am local time. I have not played civ properly for a few years (didn't like Civ5) but have been enjoying Civ6 since I got it in the summer sale. Only played about 8 games through at the higher difficulties (although...

    Embarkment messes this game up

Why not, the plan is quite simple: Gain Naval Superiority Embark (Warships scout the route) Invade Warships bombard. The problem is what do you do with your navy when the enemy only has inland cities. The AI is not very good but it can get through sometimes and it can be an effective...

    Railroads--worth it?

On culture, you need any boost you can get for the Utopia project. This is unless you're building it in the capital so a link isn't needed and you only need to research it.

TSG5: Please criticise my game plan

Hi, I haven't really got in to CiV but have been giving it a go. I feel my strategy is lacking in adaptation from Civ IV. Particularly with reference to puppets for expansion in a cultural game. (I think they are overpowered but then refuse to use them, must be a lack of intelligence). I am...

    TSG4 After Action Report

Slow both in game terms and finishing date. Reads like a list of mistakes. I think Hiawatha is great for encouraging a different style (focus on forests). 1) Beelined to mohawk warriors and then proceeded to take over continent (probably could have taken China with warriors. 2) Puppeted...

    How would you rate Germany?

AI is just easily intimindated. I have had one warrior and a tech lead/gold reserves sufficient enough to prevent Augustus declaring war with his infantry. On topic, Germany are weak at the moment - Special Ability can only be used effectively within one style of play. I don't think you need...

News: Game of the month for Civ V - feedback appreciated

Just started playing but for me it would keep it GOTM (not the week or fortnight). I have too many alternative uses of my time to keep up otherwise. No problem with concurrent games, I'll just pick the interestng one (for me). Would like it if it was a similar map but different requirements...

To All Of You That Think Civ V Is Boring...

So you have completed a cultural victory as well, or was it science? On the diplomatic front, I am reasonably happy with it. At first I never got attacked whatever - for example a cultural victory where I bordered Augustus the super bully and he didn' declare on me with my one warrior. Now I...

    Deadline for GOTM2?

No worries, have done and I am quite happy that I would be about two thirds of the way down the leaderboard (given at one point I was playing for a last stand).

    TSG2 Results and Congratulations

Far too late for results but for my own satisfaction:goodjob: 1946AD Score:1778 Science Victory. Would have been completed a lot earlier if I hadn't been fighting four wars. Teach me to rely on be being able to wipe the floor with the AI rather than put fear in their hearts.:crazyeye:

    TSG2 Game in Progress

Well your all done and dusted but my learning curve continues. Doing this from work but some advice along the lines of mistakes not to be copied.

    Deadline for GOTM2?

Could it be more accommodating with a second cut off where the results are updated a couple of weeks after. I am trying to get into the GOTM as could never find the time previously (family, work and exams combined). I started this a week late but even with two weeks I am still five turns off...

    Protect City State Quests

Your not joking, in the GOTM I'm playing Genoa has destroyed a number of French units sitting just inside his border, razed one French city and captured another (didn't know they could do that). Turns out the AI ineffectiveness doesn't extend to City states.:crazyeye:

So the AI doesn't cheat with gold, huh?

Isn't the most obvious thing that they have +27 gold less 200 for research agreement. Not cheating but mis representation

I've hit rock bottom! ciV boring??!!

Try and see it as the bit part nations that influenced history but never made the rounded contribution (empire, historic leaders, etc.) to be a fully fledged civ. I think that makes it a bit more acceptable. Edinburgh read Scotland Geneva read Switzerland
