I have started micromanaging road building as follows. I have my workers delay completion of roads between cities until most of the entire path is complete. I have the worker build the road until it is one turn from completion. Then I have the worker move on to the next tile along the road...
Seeking suggestions about the best folder location and methods for updating maps?
Less productive method I had been using:
I was building my maps in the .\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Maps folder with WorldBuilder.
I used "add existing item" to get them into my mods.
This copies the map to...
Having a civilization or City-state as team 22 will definitely prevent barbarians from spawning. I believe I also remember the results of prior experimentation showing that de-selecting ancient ruins prevents barbarians from spawning. I am about to begin experimentation again.
Nope: Ancient...
I was just remembering back to Civilization II Test of Time expansion which allowed game play in a non-earth setting. I remember some things like teleporting and a two-sided map, with portals to flip to the other side.
Is Beyond Earth anything like that was? I am scraping all my pennies to...
Excellent tool! Now I can casually peruse the ./resources/DX9 directory to discover where the critical images I need to modify are located. Thanks much Whoward69!
There is a saying that "seeing is believing". I guess a corollary might be "seeing is realization of root source of in-game...
Progress rather than perfection.
I am working on a mod. I started with kindergarten style drawings. After I finish the functionality of the mod, I will begin the artistic endeavor. Might release it with childish art anyway.
I thought I remember creating a map with designated starting locations, but setting things up such that the player can choose (override) a different Civilization (during setup for game play) at the designated starting location for the human (rather than AI) player.
The "Playable" checkbox in...
Agreed. Civilization Fanatics Center is an extremely rare and unique gaming forum, IMHO, which probably does things better than most official game site forms.
I typically totally ignore Steam forums about a particular game, unless I can find no other source for a certain topic. I would think...
I am seeing two diverging focuses or preferences here:
A) free form (sandbox) type equality and opportunity for all civs (players).
B) highly specialized, regionally (terrain) biased, and historical civilization conformity.
My dreams include a Civ 6, where the user could choose either form of...
Thanks Whoward69. I apologize about posting in the wrong sub-forum section. Actually, I'm not sure exactly how I posted in the wrong section. I thought I was trying to post to where this thread ended up after moving. I'll try to pay more attention next time, not sure I have it entirely...
I have created icon atlases using the templates available on these forums.
I wanted to browse around all of the DDS files that came with the game, just to see how things were done, and also look at the artwork. But when I open the *.dds files with GIMP, they just look like a scrambled mess...
I guess I might be better served thinking of wonders as unique game items only having extremely loose relation to real world historic items.
I did release a mod quite a while back (for vanilla Civ 5 I believe), which converted all World Wonders to national wonders such that any civilization...
Perhaps there could be differences of opinion. I consider Civ5 extremely moddable relative to similar game titles in the industry.
I would definitely agree with a perception that the Civ 5 mod tools and process are not as accessible and readily available in a simplistic format to the novice...
