it really doesnt matter what difficulty level you are playing , the game is over once you start taking cities or out science/culture the AI in whatever win condition you want to use. the AI is not really an AI afterall , it cannot formulate a strategy to beat your approach or tries to ally...
if firaxis cannot solve the unnecessary end game hit the end turn button 50 times so the game is over without doing anything then for me it really doesnt matter what they add or remove mechanic wise
did you ever think that they also deserve the weekend off ? do you ever give them vacations? why are you only interested in how they work and not how they are?
i played each scenario once or twice for alexander in order to beat it and never looked back at them. they were not there to be done to enjoy long term for dozens of play throughs.

early access is at this time an established method for companies to get money , everyone will use that , paradox loves its DLC focused continued support and expansion of game model so Millenia will most likely make use of that too. at least paradox gives a lot of the update as free too like...
i dont like doomstacks but i am willing to see if the devs can figure out something that i enjoy , that being said 1 UPT is also not a good enough system. adding generals supply units is a good start , hopefully something decent can come out with a little more thinkering
better endgame mechanics and ensure that snowballing does not lead to hit end of turn till game is finished
better multiplayer support and maybe tournaments and such
support for bigger and even bigger maps
i dont think there is any AI in the game at all. just a bunch of numbers assigned to all actions and some other values ( i could speculate civilization power , distance , army positioning etc ) . the computer then checks the sum of said numbers and checks it against a table the devs have created...
when i was a child and had no worries apart from how to beat the computer player. the older i got and the more real life worries crept into my gaming experience the less fun i had
