Rhye's and Fall of Civilization info and discussion thread

Hey Rhye, I'm glad to see you're back at it. I can see removing the Vikings if you have Sweden. I think Korea is best represented as an independent city state.

    Domination!!!

You got it with Egypt? You've returned me from the dead. That's astounding. I know I've done Ethiopia before, and I think AP has done Babylon. I do not think anyone has done Mali. But I think Mali should be easier than Egypt, since their unique power is extremely powerful.

    Egyptian Survival Challenge

Egypt is harder because of stability and much poorer production. Babylon does indeed have more belligerent neighbors, but a little pre-emption and planning makes the babylon game much easier.

Exactly why I always had at least 2, except in the very beginning. No cheating! BTS.

    Egyptian Survival Challenge

Edit: Link to the old thread: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=272814 Much has changed since the old longevity challenge, but I'm still quite proud I made it all the way. I made it from 3000 BC to 2020 AD with Egypt without collapsing. Churchill won a time victory. Monarch...

    RFC Europe playtesting feedback thread

Hey guys, I haven't been very active posting, but I like a lot of the changes you've been making to the mod. It feels really very nearly complete. That said, I've got a crash to desktop problem. Consistently, upon ending the turn. Please see attached save. I am running the most recent version...

Why won't they Capitulate? and other questions...

    1) Capitulation depends on a number of variables, including relative strength, relative success/failure in the war, and how many vassals you already have. Getting vassals when you already have one is harder. It gets successively harder the more you have. There is also a hard cap on vassals at 4...

Welcome to Rhye's and Fall of the Greek World

It also depends on other civilizations that are included. Can you hold the Romans off as the Greeks? Can Egypt maintain its independence and avoid becoming a vassal? What about Sythia, Babylon, and the Indus? What if Carthage beat the Romans? 600 is as good as any end date. It reflects the...

I killed Spain on spawn with some chicanery with 2 Berber cavalry. The AI is just not very good when faced with light cavalry. Killed Portugal a short while later on their spawn, with a good stack of armored lancers. Then I just built up Iberia, built my wonders, and got a huge tech lead. The...

    khmer spawn

Yeah, turkey gets pretty much all of the Anatolian peninsula.

    khmer spawn

Actually, sorry, I was thinking of Hannoi (which also isn't in the spawn zone) Jakarta is not in the spawn zone. However, flip zones for respawns are different from spawn zones for initial civ spawning. Cities will flip based on stability of their current owner, a larger flip zone than the...

    khmer spawn

Jakarta should be in the Khmer spawn, and Babylon is not in the Turkish spawn. The turkish spawn ends one tile east of the Mediterranean, and just north of Jerusalem. You can find all of this on your own using the atlas: http://civ4.technologyresourcesgroup.com/

Yeah, the area is probably pretty confined then, and my reference folder doesn't have an updated map area. I think the UHV map was drawn up before Arguin became such an attractive place to build a city a few updates ago.

Cordoba's last UHV seems to not work. Maybe I founded Arguin too far west, but the descriptor just says "Northwest Africa," and that looks pretty northwest to me.
