I have the same problem! I want to be able to think for myself in Civ IV more, but I tend to pick one of the "defaults" if I'm not sure or if I'm lazy.
881. Money is important, so set your capital to "Wealth" for the whole game.
882. Workers and settlers are militarily the strongest units in the game. Use them to attack enemies and defend cities.
(maybe they were posted before...)
I used to warmong (that should be a word), but now I've mostly been playing peacefully. I enjoy building my empire.
Maybe because I started with Civ 1, which had a rather aggressive AI, and the best way to take care of it was to attack them (and/or use diplomats). It seems to take me a while to...
Usually not, as I get bored with the late game if I know I'll win or lose. My favourite part of Civ is the early turns, exploring and building cities and such.
I recently started a game on Noble because I was bored with Warlord, and I found it a LOT more fun. Instead of just breaking away from the AI in 1000 and playing out the rest of the turns half-heartedly and probably stopping at some point, I have to struggle to stay ahead in tech and so on. I'm...
I think I was around 11 when I first played.
My parents got it (Civ 1 for Windows) when I was 6, but they wouldn't show me how to play or anything, they just said "It's really complicated". Eventually I started to resent the game because my parents would hog the only modern computer playing it...
I'm not familiar with the SNES version...it is significantly different from the versions for computers? I think SNES9X should have a "save state" feature that will make a "snapshot" of the game in progress that can be loaded by anyone else who has SNES9X.
Is there a way to turn off the "Recommended" display for city builds and technologies? I find them hard to just ignore but want to play my own game, not get bombarded with advice from the AI all the time. I found out how to remove the recommendations for unit movements. I'm on vanilla.
