In my game China had the unforunate event of being stuck next to a Rome that quickly defeated Greece and Persia. But Romes route to China was from Rome, past 2 states Rome had puppeted. So the reinforcement line was very long to Beijing. Rome was able to take Shanghai and advance no further...
I'm having trouble finding where to change it.
Playing as Japan I spawned next to Greece and the Ottomans - two countries with whitetish colours on the minimap.
I also wish to change China's horrible green colour into a dark red. Where can I go about this?
I'm pretty much a new player to civ 5.
I've played lots of games however but not really noticed that much , as I've been playing very easy - Quick games.
So for once I decided to stop being such a huge coward and play harder.

Switch to strategic view, hold out tab to go to the next window rather then just pressing it once to minimize.
Works fine, with strategic view the lag from the game is reduced.
Running at low with fog of war at medium.
Runs fine really. You don't notice the slight lag as the game goes by. Of course I don't dare play maps over standard size, as that would be just silly. Luckily I have no interest in such large maps.
