Got home after dinner and fired up the game. Tweaked and tuned things for a couple minutes and hit the next turn button.
Not sure why I didn't abstain, maybe was mad and clicked whatever was on the screen to get out of the game and upload my progress here (though I still would have lost...
I'll keep at it then. I feel like my biggest problem the first time around was I always built too many buildings. I felt like the courthouses/rathauses were necessary as GPT was a big issue. Good reminder about keeping an eye on bulbing paths. Washington peace vassaled to Zara for a bit but...
It's been a couple years and I'm trying to jump right back in where I left off: Emperor.
Had a half assed semi successful axe rush but not finishing off Washington really put a damper on the party. Fell behind in tech and it's just turning into a horsehocky show real fast. I know enough to get in...
This is actually my exact take on all games too otherwise I get bored. That being said I really pushed it with VI and I readily beat Immortal with less than 50 hours logged (according to Steam). I played another game on Immortal to make sure it wasn't a fluke, luck, good start etc. but it was...
Short Answer: Yes
Long Answer: Less than 50 hours logged and in my haphazard first effort on Immortal I beat the AI into the ground without too much of a sweat. This is factored in with the fact that I let a barbarian scout out my capital and was harassed by endless barb cavalry pretty much at...
Install the BUG mod as it is very handy to have and keep track of diplo, production, trade, etc.
Learn to utilize whipping as it is a very effective way to turn extra food into hammers. In the early game try to whip settlers/workers as they each STOP growth in the city while being produced...
Not to hijack the thread but I was curious if anyone else is/was able to consistently achieve victory on Emperor or above? I've only done it a couple does out of about a dozen and it seems almost impossible without lucky resource locations.
I can almost guarantee all the bloatware that comes with a Sony VAIO has much more of a significant impact on overall performance compared to running Steam. Go to add/remove programs and see if you can chop away at the useless stuff they load if you'd feel comfortable with that.
About SM:BE I...
This with the exception of building on a special resource. If you place a mine on hilly iron you will get a shield bonus, albeit not to the fullest, but at least over 2. Same applies for food.
How the heck did you get so many cities up before 0AD? Did you have a settler factory? On a good day I could beat Emperor but with your style it looks like you wouldn't have a problem (hence the upgrade to Demigod I take it).
I think with enough time/practice you'll be able to comfortably beat Emperor. How do I know? Because I went from Noble to Emperor and I'm nothing special. Just another average Joe that plays for a few hours (okay maybe more than a few) every now and then. What really helped was this thread I...
Heres some steps that helped me achieve not only Prince Victories but also Monarch wins as well:
1) Install the BUG MOD (and bull dll for fancy combat odds display)
2) Get a very good understanding of what Food, Hammers, and Commerce do in each city, especially Food. I never really payed...
Because I just want to achieve a single victory at least on Regent difficulty at this point. The game was part of a really good Steam summer sale so I decided to fire it up. Definitely the most aggravating out of Civ 3, 4, and 5 IMO. I've yet to win a single game so now I'm damn determined to do...
After logging in almost 100 hours in CIV BTS I decided to try out CiV again since the new patch came out (I didn't even realized they had a post patch for said patch either). At any rate I got the latest version with Vanilla CiV and since it was months since my last play I started my first game...
