Who in their right mind would have 70,000 gold just to use it buying a civ's empire. That's the bigger headroll.

Denying open borders is pretty .....interesting b/c you just deleted 25% of your tourism bonus for that civ just so you can "save" a ruin that you could easily save without doing so by positioning a unit on top of that tile. Don't ever do that.

I think you have to distinguish between peaceful and non peaceful. Purely peaceful you need to get all theme bonuses and quickly. Even then, you will need hotels to finish off the final civ which puts you at a turn 275 ish win. If you can keep a military and war your competition to cripple...

It's just a simple fact that the game on Warlord is a different game than on Immortal or Deity. It's not that you're a better person, it's just that you're having two different conversations.

On emperor I can win cultural as any civ before turn 300, after hotels but before airports. About 90% of the time I don't even have to go to war.

Ya I hear you....going to have to be more creative with your victory types. Select a random leader and before even going into the game agree with yourself to get the victory type that leader is NOT associated with. Japan must get cultural/science victory. Siam must dominate. etc.

Seriously consider religion on maps where you have easier access to the other civs....AND the other civs don't heavily favor religion. If you can get Hagia Sophia and Borbudour wonders relatively early, you'll own the game (i.e with Tithe)
