Buzzbuzzbuzz!
Took a long break from this obviously for many reasons too numerous and boring to explain. But I'm happy to announce I'm resuming working on this project again!
So first, 1.17. I noticed a few months ago that the modmodmod was no longer compatible with the current release owing...
Ah might be the issue. It all looks correct, but I moved the folder to its right place after it first installed somewhere else, then tried. If you have to install it directly there that oughta be the trick.
EDIT: Aye, I'm dumb, Civ 4/Mods and Beyond the Sword/Mods are not the same folder. Been...
Hey Leoreth, long time since I've popped in. I was looking to revisit my CityNameManager+ modmod which I never revised since CityNameManager itself got overhauled. I've got a new PC since then tho, and I keep getting a weird persistent error trying to load v1.17: "GFC Error: failed to initialize...
I think in general I have the opposite mindset; why sacrifice the thrill of variation and increased historical accuracy for the sake of making things easier? And when it comes to areas like Anatolia, it's purely unavoidable. Greece has to found Ephesus, Turkey has to found Izmir, and something...
Never quite sure when to update you all... but a month seems a good enough interval. I've been fairly busy on band-related stuff past few weeks but I've found some time to knock out some cities on the map anyway. Specifically I've combed thru this thread and incorporated the suggestions...
Huh, looks you're right, although I could've sworn Aswan was the bigger city now. In any case both are still so important I'd much rather include both. As I say I just can't see the disadvantage of throwing in an extra row of Nile between Luxor and Memphis at the expense of squeezing South...
I don't think much to Thebes 1S tbh - it replaces and thus completely rules out Aswan (Syene/Yebu/Elephantine etc), arguably the second most important city of Upper Egypt and definitely the most important city of Upper Egypt in the modern era. I think rejigging the Nile to give Egypt more space...
Just made a copy of the original map with what I'd deem preferable cities highlighted, which is here. It's an odd task as obviously some cities that are very important are also very close by, and stretching across different eras of occupation also makes it a fairly hopeless job, but I think this...
Thanks Ben, I've changed that. And thanks Leoreth! I'm filling in civs one by one, but it'll be a loooong process. We might need repeating names for areas like Siberia, but I'm avoiding them where possible.
Ah I knew there was a thread for this hiding somewhere. Just to let you know where I'm at, I've transferred the whole of my CNM+ onto the big map, or rather a spreadsheet that represents the big map. As you can see, with the map being so much bigger there are a lot of holes, but I'm having fun...
If you do pop back in, some good shots of the whole Arctic Circle would be appreciated :) Steb mentioned Eastern Canadian Arctic (ie Baffin Island) but the area around Victoria Island is a little tricky to make out too. My mapping is coming alone nicely tho!
EDIT: also a bit of Arctic Russia...
I've begun to translate CNM+ to the big map, starting by just mapping out the cities from my current version onto the spreadsheet version of big map. You can see my progress here! Feel free to leave comments on there, although I have only just started (and might well break for Christmas now)...
Yes, Winchester is in England's city map and relocates to as most of England's city list does in the Industrial era, to Southampton.
When it comes to individual languages... in a perfect world, great, but a lot of the languages are literally used for one city and no others (take Milanese for...
Yes! There's plenty really, I just decided to avoid including them in the first release because it would take a while to suss out. I mean I didn't mention this before, but of course Egypt has it already implemented when they are reborn with Islam - if they're not reborn with Islam they stick to...
