Any guess on what will happen to Erdo-Turkey now that it downed a russian plane?

There's a difference between "wiping out Tatars" and shutting down an organization that is openly funded by the US and purely exists to make use of that grant money. They don't represent Tatars, they are high level beggars who try to create an image of the "plight" of Crimean Tatars in order to...

US empire and foreign policy (split from Republican Nomination)

Yeah I definitely agree that the politicians "in charge" believe the rhetoric, at least partially. Through the years the US foreign policy has been incredibly consistent between each administration, which to me is a clear sign that it's governed by someone else, someone who isn't deluded to...

Sander's Four Hundred Billion Dollar Dream

I like how it's done in Italy. High school is divided into several types of schools, each with their own subdivisions. You have your general education, "preparing for university" high school, with nominally different focuses like "scientific" (which has more hours of Latin than Physics but...

Can you give up your iPhone?

If all the people in a room are focused on their phones, I doubt they would've had any meaningful conversation with each other anyway. The usual "kids of this generation are so spoiled/can't function without x" is getting really boring. You could literally say the same about anything that we in...

    [RD] The Russia News Thread

The low oil prices should favor some investment into other sectors. The Russian industry never really moved on from 1990 level technology. Lately there have been a few upgrades but still, I'd say that's one of the main problems of the Russian economy. You can even see that in its main...

Putin criticizes Soviet founder Lenin, says he put 'time bomb' under the state

These articles fail to mention why he would talk about these things all of a sudden. In any case it doesn't seem like anything revolutionary, the situation we're in today has its roots in what Lenin did, and he's just calling it out. If anyone's to praise it's Gorbachev, he single-handedly...

Bill Murray announces his run to be US president :)

The statement sounds like one big ad for Sanders. Isn't it a bit late to announce candidacy by now?

    Election: Hitler vs Stalin

As a Slav, under Hitler I'd be either killed off or forced into slavery, so I definitely prefer Stalin. Even as a German, if I was left-leaning, homosexual, a member of the SA, of draft age or some other things, I'd have a pretty high risk of dying. This of course if I was completely devoid of...

    Ukrainian crisis news 2.0

What? As always your post doesn't make sense. I'm perfectly aware of what is good infrastructure, and Crimea didn't have that. Are you going to dispute even that? Considering that Ukraine was and is the second or third poorest country in Europe? From what I've heard Sochi and...

    Ukrainian crisis news 2.0

I've been there a couple of times during Ukraine's "effective management" as you say and it's indeed a very rough gem. So much potential ruined by decrepit infrastructure and the price even at the time was in line with Turkey.

Any guess on what will happen to Erdo-Turkey now that it downed a russian plane?

Not at all considering what this "freedom" gave them. Though the US did choose poor puppets.

Any guess on what will happen to Erdo-Turkey now that it downed a russian plane?

Read the title of this thread, it will all make sense. Either way it's irrelevant, if the plane even crossed the border it would have been for a few seconds at most, considering that it fell pretty deep into Syrian territory. I don't really think Turkey has the right to be trigger happy.

    Ukrainian crisis news 2.0

Pre-war Libya also didn't compare to post-war Libya. At this point for Ukraine all it takes is one big assassination, one faction struggle gone too far, and the state is dead. It's a big question if Ukraine's economy will survive this winter, it's another huge risk factor.

    Ukrainian crisis news 2.0

At the core this is an internal issue. It's a civil war in every sense of the word, the only difference being that both sides are puppets of a great power.
