I've been playing with the Steel and Thunder mods which add rifleman and trebuchet units and these fill in the gap nicely between musketmen and infantry. Same goes with the trebuchet. Fills in a power gap at a good time when wall tech is making catapaults not so good. So since the line...
Literally the only modes I've tried with Zombie mode are dramatic ages, monopolies and corporations and barbarian clans. With barbarian clans on it's the largely negligible one for the most part. With it off it's been consistently large swarms right from the moment the first city is settled...
Have had that happen to my own capital. Three zombies show up right away after settling my capital and kill my lone warrior and quickly bring my capital down. It was just a series of endless attacks with my city still holding on while I'm trying to get more warriors. Personally I'd have...
Turn off Barbarian Clan mode if you want more zombies. This for sure works (well it has for me for the most part anyway), though not necessarily huge swarms every game but there are a lot more of them in general.
Yup I agree.
Oh I've got it slotted and it helps, though I got wiped down to my capital in my last game and this one isn't faring any better down to two cities. And the barbs are producing units like there's no tomorrow. Even regular units, not just zombies. End of classical age just got into medieval and...
I'll have to try those maps. I've never tried them all this time.
Yes I agree with ranged units being key. I use a mix of ranged and cavalry units. Well placed encampments help. For a good part of a game a hit from a ranged unit, and a hit from a walled city or encampment is enough to wipe...
It would be nice if the AI WAS smart enough to trade great works for great works for precisely this purpose. But if it could do that it would likely be the competent AI that everyone is pining for in this game.
Heh, they are like more annoying barbs. Actually they attack cities far more reliably than barbs do but then again barbs are more raiders than anything but zombies don't give a crap...they just want brains!
I like your thought about a zombie city but if they went full bore and took out AI...
I never thought the free cities might dampen them. I have had runaway free cities many times using dramatic ages and never thought of it being a factor in dampening the zombie effect. And yes, civilizing areas does over some time start to dampen the numbers. I'm pretty early in my current...
What I find odd is when they offer a trade deal where they want a great work of yours but they are also offering a great work in return. The rest of the deal in these cases is usually horrible but what's the point? You're basically trading great works. Usually though they want my spare...
Yes this update did slow things down. Avoiding the launcher fixed it but I also found I had to disable a couple mods that worked fine pre-update but caused obscene load times after the update, even when skipping the launcher. But it does seem largely back to normal again once you avoid the...
This answer is only based on my recent experience. But what I've seen so far (I use some mods BTW) is that with Barbarian Clans mode on and zombie mode on they weren't too bad. Most games were as you described, except for one where they were worse with high strength by the modern era. But two...
Well I read earlier that turning off the barbarian clan mode made the zombies worse...and it's true. All my games since barbarian clan mode came out have had it on and when zombie mode came out, zombies were annoyances except for one game and they weren't this bad. I've played two games...
