I usually put a single vote for myself to get an extra route since that's always pretty useful no matter what victory I'm going after. I usually only route one or two traders to the same player in which case the extra trade route is likely to give me more gold than boosting those two and some...
You can chop rainforest or harvest stuff like rice, bananas etc. to grow your cities.
Magnus affects all yields from removing features or resources as far as I know.
Growing a city several times in a single turn with Magnus and chops used to be a thing but now they've added an overflow stop...
I met Gitarja with a scout and buttered up to her but didn't get any friendly meeting modifier. In fact I'm pretty sure she's gearing up for an invasion.
Might be completely random? Maybe both of you need to have a scout meet?
I have no idea. I'm pretty sure they stop building wonders and stuff to poop out units so I would assume they'd be willing to buy some as well. The problem is that unless that ai is an era of tech ahead of the player they'll probably just buy something that dies in a turn or two because the ai...
I think drowning them in cash is pretty much it. You could levy and get in the way but it would be fairly obvious to a real human being that you were effectively in the war.
Gorgo is pretty easy to satisfy if you play in a certain way. It's just super confusing to be at war with her:
"Hey Gorgo, wanna just give up now? I've taken every useful city you have but I'll let you chill in that weird tundra fishing village, you could have a decent life there, the appeal is...
Egypt and sumeria will get alliance points super fast so you can get a nice bonus for a military alliance and conquer the world.
Mapuche and Eleanor for maximum loyalty flips would be interesting.
Congrats!
I have over 1500 hours logged and still "suck" by the standards of this forum but every fun game is an achievement in itself. Just keep trying fun new angles and enjoy your games. Domination and religion are probably the victory conditions that have the best potential for early wins.
My intention wasn't to whine about bad AI, I'm looking for fun examples of double standards from the AI.
I've seen warmongers who have three caps get pissy about my expansionist as well but that solved itself once I realized they just wanted to be invited to the party and conquer them together...
I think demand was just a bad naming, I see them more as favors asked. In my last Mongolian culture game I did a bit of conquering early on and everyone hated me but I needed open borders so I gave in to their demands and it boosts your diplo relationship substantially. I'm not sure I've ever...
Tried a Russian game to do a holy science Strat I read about the other day (ended up failing big time because flat tundra does not promote 10 pop but that's another matter).
Through the entire game Cléo and Tamar kept berating me for letting barbarians run loose in my lands since I had invested...
Big thanks to both of you!
I missed the timing push in my last game as well but Polish hussars and Mohkta with better healing in a city nearby allowed me to bruteforce my way until I got to bombards. I'll be sure to try pikemen in future games, I sometimes almost forget about the anticav line...
Hey!
tldr:
Ever since the update where cavalry can't use siege towers I'm struggling with late classical/medieval warfare.
I would prefer to not wait for bombards and muskets because I want to keep rolling over enemies. I couldn't get an early tech advantage this game so I currently have to...
Spain can convert everything they conquer, right? Should allow you to put pressure on the last non-holy cap even if you would just be waiting ages to get a religious instead of domination victory. Or does it require a religious unit?
I like that the districts aren't required. Being locked into...
